So with all these sick horses, I find that I have had a use for a thermometer. Something I have never owned.
Does anyone use the digital ones? There is a really good buy on them in Chicks.

What - and not have to stand there for three or more minutes hoping the aligator clip hooked to the tail hairs prevents your old fashioned glass thermometer from being sucked up into the vortex and into another dimension from which it can never be retrieved before you get an reasonably correct reading??? What a WUSS:biggrin:

It was horse.com that has the good price on them...not Chicks. They are only $5.99.

the only problem I've had with digitals is discovering that the battery is dead when I need it most. this has actual happened to me. Luckily I had the backup old fashioned type. What a pain.

That's funny. I have never had one go dead.

You're a lot younger than I am too:biggrin::biggrin: Mine was probably from the Vietnam war era. It's depressing to visit the Smithsonian museum and see your sled and rollar skates in there (the exact same ones that are still in my house and I still use the sled). They probably have my digital thermometer on display also.:mecry:

Really of course digitals are fantastic.

Of course, as always, I could be wrong, but I don't think they made digital thermometers in the Vietnam era. In fact, I am pretty sure that they were discovered in my adulthood. So, although you may have me on age on a whole host of topics, I am thinking that this is not one of them.:smileywavey:

I have the cheapest digital from the local pharmacy. Works great! Been using the same one for over 5 years now!

I use nothing but digitals. Haven't had to buy one as they are always in the "goody bags" at the veterinary seminars. All mine say AAEP on them and have a horse head logo.
I have no idea what "brand" they are.
