PASO FINO HORSES TO GOOD HOME:

1--Photos of Singapore:

What a huge heart this guy has. He has taken care of many a small child, would give his life for you. His loyalty and kindness are beyond measure. After performing in parades and events and trail riding, he worked for 6 years in the Boulder Medicine Horse Program for wayward teens and abused women. He gave them what they could not receive from people--unconditional love and trust.

Now retired at 28, he hopes for a restful place and some human appreciation--his gait is smooth for light (is child proof) riding and he has never had a health problem.

Registered Singapore de Vez #528682 sire Cantante de Omega and dam Novita and grandmother the renowned white Puerto Rican Maria Lucisa.

2--one photo of Chika of Hilldale # 178276 (bottom picture with dog) at age 18 (dam of Gabi). Her sire was Soldado of Hilldale and dam Anonima Linda FN

3--two photos of Gabriella of Wind Chime #00027106 foaled 2/6/95

Gabi is a larger cookie cutter image of her mother Chika and her personality is also same as Chika's. She's dominant in the herd and proved a nurturing yet disciplinary surrogate mom to several foals. Her intelligence and sensitivity are high--so she'd need someone who can start with groundwork and bonding. She also worked for six years at the Medicine Horse Program (not riding but emotional work....horse as therapist). Her physical sensitivity also demands light touch on the head and mouth--body and leg leads are best.

Both need good homes.....can you help?

I used to own a mare out of Chicka of Hilldale by Coral de Vez. Such a funny small world.

Yep..it sure is a small world Linda. If this economy doesn't pick up real soon...we are going to see a lot more of this and I've seen plenty already.

I guess Colorado Springs even made the national news since they are having to turn off every-other street light, taken garbage cans out of city parks, the city is soooo deep in debt that they won't be mowing the huge city parks...but then maybe they won't need to since they also cannot afford to water those parks...and then, they just passed ruling to make all the homeless people camping in tents along the creek to have to move out of there because they are such an "eyesore"..and a detriment to the "wonderful city"...sheesh..where will it end?

Yep...Colorado is suffering terribly right now..and oh..did I mention foreclosures are still on the RISE? Of course jobs are on the decline...that goes without saying!

God save the horses.....

God save all of us, Terry. I just read about two horses that were abandoned in a park in FL, one was caught and is skin and bones.
The Chicka mare is 31 years old. Being that I have old horses, too, I personally think it would be a kindness to help that mare across the bridge rather than transport her to a strange home. But I am silly like that...

UPDATE and to Clarify...
The mare Chika was put down due to a severe injury some years back. her photo is here so you can see what Gabi (Gabriella's) dam looked like.
I wasn't sure why that pic was included...now we know!

I got an email from Jana and she said she had some inquiries...thanks everybody! Keep those inquiries coming...:)

That De Vez bred horse Singapore looks like a million bucks for 28 years of age....!:)

Heartbreaking. If I had the space and the $$, they'd have a forever home with me.

I can't tell anyone enough how sad I am to not be able to take him. I loved him since birth. I sold this horse to a young boy 12 years old and he bought him for 50 dollars down and 50 a month. When Singapore was 2 , the young boy put him out to stud and paid me my 2500 dollars off soon. He was shown once. The young man won a race with him and earned enough to enter him into youth pleasure. Needless to say that he won out of a huge class but also defeated the undefeated paso that had won for two years straight, Willow Wind Mako. He also slept on the back porch and raised the family's children.
I am wondering if he is still a stallion. The last time I saw him , he rode a lady with traumatic dystonia out into the dark. This lady had very little use of her right arm and leg. Barb

Thanks , Terry , as to the credit to my breeding. I have his 26 year old half brother here , Manero that is in phenomenal shape, too. He is a stallion tho and Sporthorse has his last baby. I hate to see the lines go with the dispositions like these horses have on his dam, Novita's side and two half brother stallions as to the sires side. Cantante put on as good natures as Novita did. There is another full brother out there, I think , that is named Mario Luis de Vez. One could not tell the two apart. Trudy has two half sisters by Novita as well. I believe they let all their guests ride them. Barb

Andrea - if you get him, I'd pitch in a few bucks on your shipping cost - I can't afford a ton, but every little bit helps!

I wonder if Terry W is planning to haul her mare out this year to breed? That gets him over half way

Deb, Thanks so much for the offer of help. Every little bit does help! Jana and I are talking via email and hopefully we can make this happen!
Terry, Are you going to be coming east?

Right now I'm looking out onto my pasture imagining a golden oldie sunning himself in the warm Florida sunshine.

Everybody, Cross your fingers, and hooves!

Terry,

Do you know where Singapore is located? I'm working on finding transportation for him. Thanks.

I've been corresponding with Jana via email about Singapore. He will be coming to live at my farm in NW Florida. I have a shipper lined up, but it will be a month or two before they can deliver him (because of weather conditions). Jana agreed with this too.

Singapore is located 40 miles north of Fort Collins, CO. Are any of you Coloradan's anywhere near there? If so, how would you like to check on the old boy for me?

Thanks

Hi Andrea....if Singapore wasn't 130 miles away from me...I'd sure go check on him for you.

I don't think I will be going east..not sure yet. Wanted to attend the Paso Fino Challenge show (Tennessee)..but I guess that is not going to happen (?)
I have a mare I wanted to take and drop off for breeding...but since I got a new job (that I LOVE)...I'm not sure what April will bring.

Yes, he's here. Singapore arrived yesterday at about noon. He was hauled from Colorado by a woman named Debbie Price - thanks for the recommendation Barb. Debbie took great care of him. I opted for a box stall for Sing since he's an older boy and wanted him as comfortable as possible. Singapore ate and drank well during the whole trip.

Right now I have him in a pen with a shelter close to the house. He's getting limited access to the pasture and is making friends with his new herdmates over the fence. He does have free choice hay and is eating well. He's very thin (backbone, hipbones and ribs all visible and sunken-in in the flanks) and has a dry dull coat that is shedding in clumps. It's been more than three years since Singapore has had vaccines or been dewormed. The vet is coming out today to give him a thorough checkup and we'll proceed from there.

Also, Singapore has a partially fallen crest. I don't believe he's ever foundered. His feet look very healthy. Can a horse's crest fall from extreme weightloss?

I'm going to go check on him now. He's been sleeping a lot, laying stretched out in the warm sun. He let's me sit with him even though he's just getting to know me. What a kind horse!

Also, I believe his daughter Gabi is moving to Hawaii!

Bless you!
Yes, a horses crest can fall from rapid weight loss. That is what happened to Toledo. It may not ever come back up again, but that won't make this horse any less kind or loveable!

You might also want to consider a workup for Cushings (PPID) with a ACTH test - that can be marked by the weightloss, the patchy shedding, and age of course. Good to know he has a wonderful home for his golden years.
