Received in email. Can't get pics up just yet. Will try this weekend.
I have attached some pictures of the Paso Finos. The horses are located in Frederick, Oklahoma which is a little south and east of Lawton. Following is the information given to me by the current owner - this is according to what he told me, I have not verified it personally.
There are 4 males (colts & studs), the rest are broodmares and fillies. The horses are friendly and most are halter/lead broke but at this time I do not believe any are broke to ride. Due to health issues, their owner is not able to care for them. He has raised Paso Finos for 35 years and he is not happy about losing them, but is willing to let them go for free without papers. They are registerable, but if you want papers he has stated that he is willing to get them but you will have to pay the cost of registration, etc. They are Columbian and (I believe he said) Peruvian bloodlines. They have to be off the property by Sunday.
We will need to know if you are serious and committed about taking in any of these horses. The most likely scenario is that those interested will meet at the Tillman County sheriff's dept on Saturday sometime between 12 and 2 and then proceed over to the property to view and choose which horses you may want. Be ready to take them with you. It will basically be a first come, first serve basis. At this time, the procedure will most likely be that the horses will be signed over to the rescue by the owner and then signed directly over to you.
For those who are still interested, please email me again with your information and I can fill you in on any additional info and keep you posted on the progress of the rescue effort. Either myself or a representative of Horse Feathers Equine Rescue will be in touch with you to coordinate and finalize the details.
These horses desperately need to get out of this situation and deserve to receive the basic care and treatment that they have been without for quite some time.

I've been trying to call Tamie S. since I got this email from CarolU....Left a message no answer yet...need to know if these horses have Coggins and can leave the state. This is awful short notice and they are 9 hours away from me...so if anybody knows the status...please post!

Hurrah and bravo for my fellow Oklahomans (some are in our yahoo oklahoma gaited horse group) who are jumping right to it and have organized themselves to go and get some, if not most, of these pasos. They have gotten ready to go only just today as the news broke, it's just the spirit of this state in action. I've seen the pictures, and the ones in pens will break your heart, one up over the knees in muck in a pen hardly big enough to turn around in. It's killing me not to be able to go, but we are not in the situation to support another horse. I chose to donate instead. Since these folks going are good friends of mine, I can report tomorrow on the reality of the situation. The horses need to go tomorrow, or they will be confiscated by the sherrifs department. Attached are two of the worst photos. Terry, I don't know about vet/coggins. I can try asking Jan Lytle, the paso tack dealer in Lone Grove if she knows, I've donated to the cause by paypal thru her business. She's hand delivering donations when they go tomorrow. She's been in touch with Tami.

The email said they were Paso Fino and Peruvian...is that true or are they all PF? Perhaps the woman meant "Puerto Rican"?
I could get there in nine hours...BUT..if they have no Coggins or health certs..they can't cross to Texas or Colorado. I'd have to go via Amarillo from Colorado Springs.
BTW..they are not all registered..be sure to take breeder certs and GET SIGNATURES if you intend to try to register them...may need a stud report signed also...just FYI

I retract everything I have ever said about mud in GA being the worst....

Unfortunately, our winter has been repeatedly in a wet precipitous cycle, and with our clay base, it doesn't drain, it just sits on top and doesn't evaporate. I've never seen a winter like this in the 19 years since I moved here. It's muddy everywhere.

My neighbor and I rescued a horse from FL one time that was being kept in a dog run. But at least he wasn't standing in knee-deep mud. Shame, shame, shame...

I'll see if I can upload the other two pics I have, one is almost bones. Thanks Nellie for posting those two and I hope they are able to get rescued, but if the sheriff gets them, at least they'll be out of the situation they're in, right?

The one horse that is in the broken pen, even without the mud, has nowhere to go, so their muscles may very well be atrophied. Need to think about their hoof conditions as well.

That's worse than Maryland mud too!
I'll retract my other comment. ;)

Things like this make us ALL angry. BUT, we need to remember this rule.
Do not post anything negative about any horses, whether they are in a rescue or free. If you feel there is something wrong with the horse that should be addressed to any potential adopter/purchaser, send a PM to that person. Do NOT post it on the board as this could cause legal issues with APF.
I'm just as guilty as everyone else. I've edited some posts. This rule is to protect APF guys, NOT to protect other people. Just an FYI.

Good luck with helping these poor horses, hope they find new or at least temporary homes quickly....Thanks Nellie for the pix and the mobilization of OK.

I have asked that the people I know going if they would get additional photos and report their experience once they get back. It will be later on today or tomorrow I'd guess since it is a far distance from most of the people I know getting involved. Nellie

I'm happy to report all the horses were taken, the drama was high, but everybody worked together and got it done. Wish I was there, it sounds like it was mighty exciting. I hear looking past the dirt, mud and general condition, the horses were obviously well bred and gaited up a storm. I can't wait to see pictures and hear more. Thanks to anybody who wanted to help, did, or donated.

I'm waiting for stories and photos myself, I believe there were 14 all together, one gal who took two mares said at least one was pregnant.

Terry, I think they meant Puerto Rico. They said they could be registered, so that means they must be pure PF.
Thanks to everyone for helping to get the word out on these. It is a strange path, the Internet weave to get news to those near, but at least it exists.

Still no stories in detail, the people I know who went are still very tired, one gal reports the horses she got seem to be without animosity, but very thin. Here is a link to our yahoo OK gaited horse photo album that Jan Lytle posted this evening. I hope it works for you to see the horses, the place, and the people who went. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Oklahomagaitedhorses/photos/album/354740904/pic/list?mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&dir=asc

I will ask the group if they would want to do that. I just found out Jan is giving up their choice to one of the fellows who came to help- he was so busy helping everybody else, he did not get a chance to claim one, so she is giving him theirs. Now that's heart! I heard the owner showed up with guns in his vehicle, and started getting riled up, the sherrif promptly took him off to jail. Tense moments for everyone there. When they heard the velcro ripped open on the sherrifs holster, it got scary! I would also suggest contacting Tami at the rescue for her input.

You can also let them know I won't be mentioning the name of the past owner or anything about THAT, trying to keep the whole thing positive.
