Looking for feedback on insurance companies, in terms of coverage such as, stem cell, diagnositics, deductables and co pays. Additionally, customer service! I'm one who likes to stay with one company when possible, so I want to make sure all bases are covered for now and in the future.

Thank You!

I will go home and check to see which company my policy is with. Haven't had to use it yet, thank God, and hope I never have to. I pay about $400 a year for major medical and life coverage. I believe the major medical covers up to $7500.00 and the life coverage insures him for the amount I paid for him. I'll get you the agent name and the company name.

I have that coverage, too, although the medical won't pay out more than I payed for the horse, which was less than $7500. I have a 2 mill liability, too. All cost just over $400, as well. Can't imagine not insuring my gelding!

I went with a local dealer who uses whatever company is best at the time and for the need. She specializes in Paso Finos. EXCELLENT customer service! Immediate (or close) responses to emails.

I carried Jerry Parks Insurance in Ocala for years...but they won't insure for major medical once the horse turns 15, and I have two in that category now (geez, when did they get so old).

I did have reason to use it for a colic surgery in 2003, and they were excellent, I was reimbursed less my $250 deductible in about a week. The only complaint I had was there was then an exception on the policy that excluded any colics on that horse.

I know several people who carry Energy Equine, and have been happy with them as well.

soltera we've missed you!! Glad to see you back.

Who's your insurance with? We're almost at the NC line. Perhaps we can use them too since we really need insurance on a couple our our guys anyway. We've had three colic surgeries in ten years with 16 horses and that's a bunch of money.

I called Equine Energy and they actually found me a policy that had a built in colic surgery as part of it, for horses up to age 19. It was through IMG. It was a very good price for both our mares who are now 16.
