#1: Blessed Are The Broodmares
#2: Breeding Management & Foal Development, by Equine Research
#3: The Horse Breeding Farm, By Larryann C. Willis
There is a good laminated poster also that shows Foaling Positions, etc... that I keep on the barn wall during foaling season.

Yes, the two most valuable books to me in 16 years of breeding..."Blessed Are The Broodmares" and "The Complete Book of Foaling" An Illustrated Guide for the Foaling Attendant. Karen E. N. Hayes, DVM, MS.
Can I tell you something....read whichever book you choose...ONE TIME. Chances are that all the things mentioned in the book WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO YOU. DON'T SWEAT IT. If it does happen...then you will have some inkling of what to do...but don't wake up every morning worrying that it will happen to you...
Put your vet on speed-dial....and let him/her know that delivery is imminent...and then enjoy it! It is the most wonderful thing you will ever experience in your life, short of your own child being born. And 9 times out of 10...you will miss the delivery, it goes so fast and is so eventless.

I would say be there at the birth or have a video feed on if at all possible. If I hadn't been there when my Resplandor was born in May, he wouldn't be here as he wasn't breathing, and I breathed for him until he came around which seemed to be forever. I have lost foals that might of made it if an attendant was there, due to bad positions of legs to straighten them out. Its not always possible to be there, and true most foal fine... Only one I couldn't save and I was there; she was breech (would be precision's full sister).
