A friend of mine went to feed her TWH gelding this morning and noticed blood all over his stall. When she looked at her horse, he had blood coming out of his nose. She called the Vet and he had her bring him right in. He diagnosed Guttural Pouch Mycosis and said that due to the bleeding, which had stopped at this point, and the infection, he wanted to wait 2 weeks to do a scope. He said that she could take him to University and if this is what it is, they can operate, and he will be good as new. Not to ride him in the meantime, and no stress. Can anyone tell me more about this? He is a 10 yr old and in very good shape. He is eating well, and if anything, he is overly fat. Any recommendations?
