I am posting this on behalf of Extasis de Gracia (Brio).

Dear Dad,

I hope you have a happy birthday and that you get lots of extra treats. My human mom said to tell you that she would have loved to come to your party today, but she has to deal with...ME!!!!

I am doing well here. I was scared at first, but my people love me and feed me yummy food (Triple Crown, alfalfa cubes, timothy hay, apples and horse treats.). I lOVE to eat. I miss my horse mom and the herd, but I know that I have to have my own herd here. I will try my best to make you proud.

I hope you have a great day, and I am proud that you are my dad.

Love,

Extasis (They call me Brio -- can you believe that!?!)

P.S. The whole family (that's what humans call herds) said to tell you Happy Birthday.

P.P.S. Hey Dad, what does geld mean?

Emperador says Thank you to everyone for his birthday greetings!
Its not every day a stallion turns age 25 years young!

1981-2006, so somewhat of a milestone... and he is quite active socially with the ladies as a senior citizen. Emperador is young at heart and wise in years. And yes, he still delivers an occasional new trick from up his sleeves learned from his past 25 years and numerous owners/places living over the years, but I have figured many of them out...but he still surprises me now and then. But those just give me insight on his earlier years and his previous expereinces...what he could get away with ... HA!

Emperador's oldest offspring is a 21 year old senior himself "Especiado de Che-Mel", born in 1984 out of the dam Veronica del Rosa. He is old enough to have been bred to a direct daughter of Hilachas -- Habanera que tal which produced "Little Orphan Annie" in 1985 who lives in Lousiana still giving kids rides. Yes, there is a story behind that name.

E's youngest offspring is 3 week old dun filly Marietta de Gracia, seen here in earlier photos. E has 11 fillies and 6 colts offspring, with 3 more expected for 2006, so more gearing up for fatherhood as a senior citizen rather than when younger. He spent many years in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains rather unknown except for the locals who all knew him as "Mousey" due to his grulla color. The largest % of his offspring are still in the Lenoir NC area. So if you hear the name "Mousey" spoken about in that area it is as he provide many first rides on a Paso Fino there... well that Mousey is my Emperador! Though he carries the "La Estrella" name of Startown Stables...Daneen Hitchcock is his listed breeder. He came to live at Gracewood in October 2003, after I would rather say he found me 4-5 months earlier (story there too). Just a little E trivia for ya'll on E's 25th BD.

E had his normal routine on his BD, except he had people visitors...Kerry, Allison and Michelle...who brought horse treats and a card! The horsey girl-friends either talked to him or ignored him (usal love-hate relationships)...its just that way! Plus E got to watch over his new filly Marietta...he likes to watch her and her mom and will get upset if he can't see them. His next foal is due within 2 weeks.

So thank you BRIO/Extasis for making dear old Dad proud too and the Hicks family (Jeany, Tony, Grayson and Bailey) for giving him a good loving home!

photo above taken today of Emperador and his daughter Sombra (the gray) ...they're having a heart to heart father-daughter talk! Bet you can't guess what they're saying?!

What a gorgeous picture of Emperador and Sombra! And a great story too.

Terry, his eyes caught me early on...he is a very bright-eyed, inquisitive (nosy!) boy. You know, we were just going to buy Marisa, but her brother's eyes wouldn't leave my mind!

I hope E had a very wonderful day, and I am sorry I couldn't be there. It sounds like ya'll had a great time.

Got Brio?

Here's another pic today of Sombra for Lori/PasoGirlz taken today.

I really will have to admit it is much more then a father-daughter talk with those two...they don't know they are related. But they both sure act the same when they are together!!! Same body language and gestures ... which I think adds fuel to the fire... infatuates and infuriates each of them at the same time like looking in a mirror when they come face to face ...usually a bunch of squealing, leg pawing the air ..each will be doing the same thing at the same time, but one is dark and one is light... well "sombra" does means "shadow"!

 ;-) hehe

well almost is close....... one of those 24 and holding!
don't you know how twenty-something people love reaching age 21, but dread reaching 25, like they are over the hill????

I can still remember that..... the girls were like thinking they were old maids if they weren't married by then.......... hehehe
I hope times have changed with our younger ladies!!!
