Bonnie, this reminds me of a poem I wrote about 'labeling' women back in the 80's when women were still having a hard time in the workplace. This was long before PC or "Prevetion of Sexual Harrassment" or "Sensitivity Training" or any of the other workplace requirements there are now.

Love Poem

(Men who take it Personally)
Followers of Rush Limbaugh

You paint your
palette perfect prose
blond - "bimbo"
woman - "broad"
feminist - "femi-nazi"
in negative neon,
to color me
- absent.

You taint my
New Woman attributes
assertive - "aggressive"
strong-willed - "pig-headed"
empowered - "domineering"
to subtract
- all that I now am.

Diminished shades
of my character
slide off your tongue,
even as you fail
to slide off your stool,
to create
your own canvas,
- as I have done.

But, your
crude critic
complements me;
that the brightness of my colors
can inspire fear in you.
You challenge
the "broad" in me
- to paint you wrong.

Carol... you go gal..... it's taken years of standing up for ourselves that has gotten us as far as we have.

Seems after years and years of putting women down the table has turned. I see commerical after commerical of women putting down men... jokes about men's shortcomings...

When women finally become equals lets hope that they do not forget one of the greatest attributes that a woman can have and that is compassion.

Let's not try to become equal and better at the cost of our male friends. Be better than that. A world where each compliments and respects the opposite sex will be a more peaceful, productive and safer world. Maybe not in our generation, but our children and grandchildren demonstrate our attitudes.... So WE are responsible for the change..
