For the past several months my boy Czar has been staying with Lois York, who has been kind enough to look after him for me. It was supposed to be temporary, but my circumstances changed and it became 5 months. Thank you thank you thank you Lois for letting him stay this long. You're a great friend and I wanted everyone on this board to know how nice you are

However, I have found a permanent home for Czar and he is moving today, I think this one fell off the luck tree. First of all, Lois only charged me enough to cover her expenses which was not much. I have been looking for board at other places and it's much more expensive, for very little service. I found one place a few weeks ago close to where I work and I thought great, I can see him every day there. When I asked to see their boarding contract they had several things in it I didn't like at all. For example - you must provide proof of all shots TWICE a year (who vaccinates for everything twice a year?), and even if I provided that they were not responsible for anything happening to him if THEY brought in a new horse that made him sick, 2...they were not responsible if he were stolen off their property (am I wrong to assume that if I pay you to look after his health and safety you should be responsible if he goes missing?), 3....if you are late with board money twice they have the right "without due process of law" to confiscate the horse and sell it immediately. UMMMM.....how to put this....NO. I heard through someone in the know that they had done this already to a couple of people who were stupid enough to sign it. So the search was still on. I was quoted prices everywhere from $250 outside board to $520, all within a half hour drive of me.

Well, finally, I see an ad and decide to answer, thinking it's just pasture board. I get to the place, I'm in heaven. He will have a huge box stall in a brand new barn, nice and bright, well lit and airy, spotless, heated water troughs outside, board fenced paddocks, daily turn out weather permitting, fed to my schedule for him, they are checked during the day to make sure all is well, during the day they go out in a huge field, at night if they stay out they are brought up to a smaller one in a lit area right behind the barn, or he can be brought in, whatever I prefer. In the summer a riding ring is going in. All this for....$100.00 a month! Can you believe it? The lady had 2 horses and sold one, so she's just looking for one boarder to be a companion for her mare, not taking on anyone else as this is a hobby for her, not a business, luck luck luck! And nice people too so this is great. I'm so excited. Czar is having his feet trimmed this morning and getting a nice brush up before he goes (if this rain stops long enough). I am happy today!! Ohhh yeah,,and Abby comes home next week yayyy!

OH yeah one more thing...you all know I sew..yesterday I found a pattern for an old fashioned sort of wild west annie oakley looking outfit, it's a jacket, a ruffled shirt and a long split riding skirt. I think it should look really neat done!

Well Czar made his trip yesterday. Despite the roads being awful where the frost has heaved them he trailered excellent as always. Unloaded perfect. He's such a good boy. The lady's whole driveway was ice and he walked very carefully to the barn, nice and quietly, then he heard his new barn mate and it was instant....arch that neck...pick up those feet...put on a show and let me show you what a stud...ok EX stud looks like..lol. But, despite the show he went into his new stall really well. He checked it all out, had a drink and a few bites of hay and proceded to look very bored with it all. We decided to turn them out while we were all there, and it was like they'd known each other for ever! A couple of squeals, a few paws in the air, no kicks were exchanged or even aimed. They ran the pasture, walked the fence, shared their hay...I feel good about this!

Last night I got an email from them to say that he continued to be really relaxed, was great when they put the horses in for the night and was most interested in checking out what their boxers were doing..lol. I don't think I'll have to worry about him settling in there.

That is great Leigh...'bout time ya caught a break! I hope it all goes well...sounds absolutely great!

Pretty soon....maybe another 2 weeks....I will post a photo or two of his brother...I can't believe he is STILL growing....need to stick him..I'm guessing 15.2HH.... a big teddy bear too! Had people coming to look at him to breed a couple mares to...but it was so snowy, windy & cold...they had to cancel the trip.....hopefully next weekend!

I'd love to see Terry. Czar has topped out I think at 15. I haven't sticked him in a while so I'm guessing, but 15 was where he was last time. He's lost a bit of weight over the winter but he'll beef back up soon enough. It has been much better this year weather wise up here and he really hasn't got a very thick coat at all. Last year he looked like a wooly mammoth! I'll try to get new pics of him soon too. I laugh at all the people who say man you should have kept him as a stud, would I ever like a foal by him...yeahhh weellllll where were you when he WAS a stud huh?
