Yesterday I went trail riding with two ladies. One had a great big Thoroughbred and the other one had a half Tennessee Walker half Morgan. Of course Tiger covered more ground than the other two and about half way through the woods, the Thoroughbred was trying to imitate Tiger's gait. LOL, it was so funny. His owner said he had never acted like that before. The other two ladies had never ridden with a Paso before and thought thought it was neat. I just happen to have had on a shirt with a big Paso Fino on the back that had writing that said, "Paso Fino Horses, the All Natural Cure for the Trots." Did I spell Thoroughbred wrong? LOL Anyway, it was fun to ride with different breeds. The Walker/Morgan was kinda cool and he was pretty laid back. He matched our gait better, but we could have left them in the dust. :D :runaway:

Hi, I had to opportunity to ride a TB last week at a natural horsemanship lesson. He was huge and we were working on yielding the front quarters on leg pressure. My Paso Fino was doing everything too fast and the trainer, a successful woman jockey and trainer, suggested that I get on her race horse who would move more deliberately. This was a horse that was winning races last year, and is expected to race again this spring. Needless to say I was nervous that I would accidently cue him to break from the gate! Anyway he was bareback and I needed a major leg up to climb this mountain of a horse. We were also in a rope halter. He did yield deliberate and slow and I could feel the muscles working as he reached his forelegs across and brought his hind end under. This was great for me as I know knew how the muscles would feel on my mare. After the lesson the trainer switched the TB to a snaffle bit and rode him bareback along the banks of the Yellowstone. My mare, Cassidy, rode in circles around him. Though she wouldn't walk, she had nice stops, turns, and a lovely jump up a bank over a two foot log. The racehorse too all this stride and walked along with a great groundcovering walk.

TB are awesome to ride. Like a Paso they are forward and have loads of heart. However they do trot :(

I love TB's. I've still had more TB's and half TB's than any other horse. And I don't even mind the trot. But the older I get the harder it is to make the climb up!

the thing that thorougbreds do so well is run. thats why i thought it was funny that you said your paso fino would leave him in the dust!

TB's are my trotting horse of choice. Does anyone know of any paso/TB crosses, I have been wondering how that would turn out...

very iffy on gait, not worth trying considering the cost of raising a horse.

Hee Hee Ed!! Tiger does have a very fast largo... but run? He is very rough and of course wouldn't be a contest for that big Thoroughbred. Tiger runs like a deer, bounding along.LOL, I just meant at his trot, Tiger could pass him. We didn't give either a test though.
