From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse,"
or, "Dang, that's a lot of money for just a horse".

They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent, or the
costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse."

Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.

"Just a horse" brings out the compassion and
patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will
rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of
all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past,
and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but
the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman/man."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because
they "just" don't understand.

Doggies are loveable but I sure wish someone would transplant a little cat DNA into those wonderful canines so they'd bury their poop and quite raiding the cat litter pan for a snack! EWWWWWWW!!

yeah, i am guilty of saying it is "just a horse." i said that about gorgeous george, my mustang, when my wife wanted to get him. i remember telling her, what do we need that horse for? it's just another horse.

well, some of you know the story, but some may not. gorgeous george turned out to be a great endurance horse. he finished every endurance ride he ever started, and in 2004, he completed the tevis cup ride in california, 100 miles in one day. although we lost him last year due to either a bad colic or possibly some type of poisoning, he will live on.
his picture is on the cover of a book called "dark horse", a volume of the mustang mountain series by sharon siamon. she recently sent us an autographed copy, and told us that the books are published in several different languages. hmmm, i never imagined such a thing would happen. not bad for "just a horse."

This really hits home because so many around here think it's just a horse, just a cat, just a dog, just an animal and when Rosa was born a guy we know thought I was crazy for staying up all those days and working so hard to keep her alive and thought instead we should just put her to sleep another three at Randy's work thought I was crazy and said to him we otta knock her in the head and put her out of her missery.Randy jumped all over their arses for saying that.Rosa means the world to Randy too and that hurt him. When Tex had to have his toe amputated we were told it's just a dog,you have to draw a line, you do what you can at home but you can't run to the vet every time one of your animals gets hurt if you lose one you lose one, thats nature.I told that guy my animals are my babies and i'll do whatever I need to to help them get better when any one of them get sick or hurt and that was the end of that.I just can't believe people can be so rude to others even after seeing they love that thing wether it's a dog, cat, turtle, horse or anything!Moniece

I saw it copied on a gundog list with credit given and figured it would take off all over the net, just thought Richard should get a little credit.
