for those who might be interested, the lost posse endurance ride is coming up real soon. march 25 and 26, near tallahassee. vet in on friday, ride saturday and sunday if you like, or just one day. base camp is near civilization this year and it looks like the trails will be in great condition.
it would be a good place for your first endurance ride if you havent tried it yet!

Sounds like a great weekend to me. What distances are which days? East or west of Tallahasee? Is there a web site with info? I'll be in Mobile that Friday.

25 and 50 both days. Go to the AERC website for directions and entry information. You can also enter when you get there if you'd rather.

We're in no hurry to 'race' - we just really like the company and the rides... :-) More than likely we'll be doodling along... depends on the temperatures, humidity, and how much winter wooly coats ours shed off in the next two weeks.

Thanks for the offer, Bob. Of course - we're late minute maniacs.... so no telling if and when we'll actually get any where near there... ;-)

I could probably put some folks up at my father-in-law's house in Spring Creek. It really is more of a box with floors and cabinets and plumbing fixtures right at the moment (hurricane remodeling). It is climate controlled with a microwave, stove, 2 showers etc. and there is a rollout bed and air matresses are welcome.

If anyone else wants to be a spectator with me, you are welcome to come on out to "the creek" and stay fri and sat nites.

The only reason I offer such crappy accomidations is because it is pretty darn close to where the ride will be. Not sure exactly how close, but pretty darn close.

There's also a 15 mile introductory ride on Saturday.

Greg, camp is about 14 miles SW of Tallahassee. If you're serious about coming you or Sandy can e-mail me for directions and specifics. Would love to see you.

Cathy, let's plan on riding together. Allison and May Day should be there, too.

Hey sounds like we'll have a nice group at the ride!

I think Allison and Mayday will probably do the 50 with Cowboy Ed and Big Al, sigh maybe next year!

Lindsay if you don't mind competing for the turtle award I'll be there bringing up the rear.

I could always bring Tsar if somebody would like the ride of their life  Just kidding he's quite happy in retirement.

If those going to this event want to meet a great Certified Journeyman Farrier with plenty of Paso experience stop by and chat with Larry Thorne. He knows exactly how to do Pasos. :D

He was at our farm this morning and did our horses and told us he would be there. Him and his wife go to many endurance rides.

He has done our horses for the past 8 years and we have never had a major hoof problem with our Pasos thanks to his knowledge and experience with all breeds.

Mel, hope you feel better - if you have what I had, it'll be a few weeks of misery, the throat is just the FIRST part, next is a sinus infection...YUK

Have fun guys. It'll be 60 here tomorrow HOORAY...but I have the vet coming for shots today and I'll have to see if anyone feels up to a workout tomorrow. I usually give them a few days off after shots.

They're the ones that aren't bouncing. ;-)

(I think I'd look for Ed's pockets. The rest will be nearby)

Hey, I got the flyer--Apalachicola National Forest. Nice this time of year. Red bud, dog wood, worm grunting, ty ty, and long leaf pine.

So, when does the ride begin and end?

I'll be fertilizing my pastures tomorrow morning, so I'd like to see folks later in the day or Sunday.

Well duh, I found the starting times. So when are folks coming back in?

The first loop is usually 10 to 15 miles so they start coming back in after an hour or more, then 30 minutes or more rest time after vet check, then back out for another hour or two, then final vet check for the 25 or 30 milers. They usually have a nice meal one evening and anyone can buy tickets to it. It's fun to take a tent and go a day early and just hang out.

There's a Kentucky ride December 2 in Harrodsburg KY. Shaker Village it says. I love the Pyramid ride but it's not on the schedule right now. I do hope they do it again. It's a great ride.
