Hello Everyone,
My name is Stacye and I live in Northeast Mississippi. I raise Miniature Horses. I have become interested in Paso Finos through my friend Joey. Joey, by the way introduced me to this forum and invited me to join, so here I am.
I don't own any full sized horses at the time, but I would like to learn more about this beautiful breed. Seems to have captivated Joey, at any rate.
The pictures from Joey's Florida trip were breathtaking, by the way!
I am looking forward to getting to know you all,
Stacye

Hi Stacye! We're in SC and have two minis, 11 paso finos and one Florida Cracker horse. We also board two of our paso finos at a mini show barn. Minis are so much fun!
Welcome to the board. Paso finos are really great horses - the horse you can still ride when you are tired or old but a horse that can run barrels, do endurance, jump and do all sorts of other things if you want to. Glad to have you here!
Hiya Stace! Welcome to the best of the best.
Nice to have you here!
And yes... it's all Lori's fault. lol

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
I grew up with American Saddle Horses and Tennessee Walkers. I was schooled in English and some Dressage, but I rebelled and ended up with a Quarter Horse mare, who I loved to pieces! She was really sweet. Somehow, though, I went back to gaited horses. Eventually, when I "grew up" and moved away from home the horses got put on the back burner, and eventually sold off.
For years I have missed them, then happened upon the minis. We got our first three last summer, and now our herd has expanded to eight, with one on the way. I love being with the little ones. They are super special and very unique.
One of these days, and sooner, not later, I plan on getting back into riding. I miss that very much, especially now that I've gotten into the minis. You just can't ride them!
At any rate, I will most likely end up with a gaited horse, but I don't know of what ilk. I'd like to educate myself about the Paso Finos for my own benefit. They are beautiful, elegant animals. I happened upon a show on RFD-TV and sat there mesmerized by their movement and grace. Those of you that have them are truly blessed.
Back to the original point, thanks for the welcome, everyone seems to be very nice here!

Welcome, Stacey! I'd love to see pics of your minis. I think they are so adorable! We have two minis and two mini donkeys at our barn. They have been such fun!
I'm Lana, and I have a PF gelding named Pitter-Pan (Pitty). My mom has a BIG TWH named Ebby. Walkers are great horses. I very much enjoy my mom's guy. Pitty is my special baby, though 8-) ;-) Pasos are a fantastic breed. After enjoying Pitty these past several years, I think I will ALWAYS have to have a Paso. :D As many on here will tell you, they can become addictive. Kinda like the Lay's motto..."betcha can't {own} just one!"
Hope you have fun here and get to learn what you want to know.....and do post some pics of the minis

Joey,
They know to watch for predators! If they see a strange man lurking about with a knife and fork they'll run! I think I need to invest in some guard dogs...
Your stallion is handsome too.
Thank you, Lori. I am proud of him. I hope he makes pretty babies.

Welcome to the group! I love your minis! they are so huggable. And your daughter is just to cute! how old she and does she have the "horsey gene"? She is going to need a nice riding pony and I bet a paso will be just the right size for a growing child. Here is my 7 yr old son on his Paso:

Welcome to the forum!!!!I'am Grayson and I live in NC with my 4 horses Nisha(arab) Mack(TWH) Brio(Paso) and Marisa(also a paso).
My riding instructor used to have a mini named Domino(black) and everyone would do tricks with him. I've begged my mom to get one for me. She said we had enough horses. I think they are so cute!!
Have fun on the forums!

Hey...staceyblack...welcome to the board! I've been raising Paso Finos for ten years and now have just gotten into the minis (in preparation for old age when I can no longer mount a Paso...which some days doesn't feel too far off... ).
Take a look at our stallion, Smaland Estates Extreme Cowboy, and our Pinto mare, Rosie (Champion Farms Ladybug), who by the way has had four colts all about the same color as your little stallion! :D
Our colt, Rip Roarin' Rowdy Cowboy, is our first baby from our minis...Rosie lost a colt the year before Rowdy came along at nine months gestation. But Rowdy has enough energy for two...he's still a stud and he IS for sale. ;-) 8-)
Both Cowboy and Rosie are double registered AMHA/AMHR...and Rowdy is AMHR registered. He will be trained to drive in 2007 if not sold.
Here they are:

Check out our Pasos at the site listed below this! Again, welcome, and I think you'll enjoy it here!

Welcome to the forum! You’re sure to catch the “Paso bug,” and if you go on a Paso test ride, you’ll be hooked for life. (I speak from experience.) :D
I absolutely love your photos! Those minis are just too cute. I also like the markings on your stallion. Very unique.

Thanks Moniece and Tami!
I love talking about and sharing my minis, and hopefully one of these days a full-sized gaited horse. My daughter is three. I'd love to see her on a Paso one of these days!
Edited to add, I'll be more than happy to post more pics and show off my minis when I get some more clipping done. I am tired of the winter woolies, but we are having some cooler weather and I don't want to take their little jackets off just yet. Oh, and when foaling rolls around, pics for sure!

I have one mare due between now and the first week of April. Another may have slipped hers, but she's not come back in season so I am hoping that she's still preggers. Her former owner said she did the same thing before her last one. I'll be sure to let you all see the new baby or babies!

Hello stacy. I live in Natchez, MS. and we keep our stallion in training in puckett, which is close to the jackson area. He is such a wonderful horse and an awesome ride and id love for u to come take a test drive on a few paso finos if you can find the time. Where are u located? We will have to get together sometime soon.

Welcome Stacye. Your minis are so cute! I think when I am too old and decrepid (like hopefully 90!) I will have to have minis to keep me company. I saw a show on animal planet once where an old man who always had horses kept his mini in the house with him! That is something I could definately do. I got bitten by the paso fino bug about 6 years ago. At the time I hadn't ridden in about 15 years. I have 4 of them now! I fell in love with their elegance, spirit, intelligence and smooth ride. I remember being mesmerized at the first show I went to. I still get goose bumps sometimes when a really awesome one enters the ring! Have fun learning about them!

Still no mini foals yet...I mis-read the stallion service certificate, so instead of the first week of April, she could go until the first week of MAY...I'll post pics when she finally decides to have it.
Where are u located? We will have to get together sometime soon.
Alexandria, I am in the Northeastern part of the state, in New Albany. I have friends in Jackson, though, so perhaps one of these days we can get together. I'd love a test-ride. I teach, and maybe this summer I could make a day trip down that way.
hey stacye :) i'm thomas, joey's oldest. pleasure to meet ya :)
Hey Thomas, the pleasure is all mine! Good to meet you, too.

So when is the test ride scheduled? :confused
stacyeblack
04-11-2006, 12:53 AM
That is a good question, Lori! I hope to go on a test ride sometime this summer, if I can schedule one with one of the generous folks on here that have been kind enough to offer.
Question though... I am a little over six feet tall. I am concerned that I might need a taller horse than Pasos seem to be...
What do you think?

there are tall Pasos out there, don't worry

Hello. Dont worry, my trainer is 6 ft or 6'1 and Diamante carries him with ease. Im sure it wont be a problem...and when you go to buy one we will find you a bigger paso if youd like. Pasos are pretty strong for their size. When you get ready to come ride email me at Got2loveanAngel@aol.com or better yet email me when you get this message and Ill email you my phone number....as sometimes I get too busy to check my email.

One of the nice things about Pasos is they may look smaller that some other breeds but the moment you ride that all goes out the window you know you have a lot more horse than appears. After you visit Alexandrai your more than welcome to come here to Bethel Springs,TN.I even might have a bigger gelding you'd like ;-)
hope to see you soon
