Pocohontas Estelar and I went to Lake Louisa
Obstacle Trail Challange and had a great time .

She is the Daughter of Cassanova Sin Par . Born
and Bred at Morning Star Paso Fino Farm , I purchased
her 6 years ago From Tami Pinel . We have good
become good friends and could not ask for any better ,
Tami Pinel and her family too .

Pocohontas and I competed this last weekend in this obstacle course
and was composed of 10 obstacles . We went up against
104 other horses and we came in 2nd place over all
the others . There were a good handful of other Paso
Finos there and the 1st place was a Paso Fino .
all the other horses of many different breeds were
all taller than the Pasos. Most thought the Pasos
would not be able to compete with the (big) horses .

You shoulda seen the looks on there face when my mare,
a Pinto Paso tore their butts up . We were only 1
second from being first place , which was rider
error as I dropped the baton on the pony express
part of the ride . Pretty impressive considering
she had been not ridden for almost 3 months due to
an absest in the soul of her hoof and then put under
saddle to compete the day of the event.
So for all you people who think you need a (big) horse for
whatever , "Bring it on " we'll show you what a "big heart" this
little 13.3 hand Paso Fino has . If I had not messed
up in the Pony Express, I was told by the judge
at that part of the course ,I would have had the
fastet time of all the horses in that particular
obstacle .

I wanna thank Tami Pinel and Morning Star Paso Fino
Farm for selling me this wonderful little Pinto Paso
with a heart the size of Texas . Its not often you can
find a horse that trust you..... unconditionally . See the
best part of this is , I have never put her through
anything like this ever or even worked on this doing this
and she can do all that she did and come in 2nd out of 104 all of
which were 97 % bigger horses??
In Sept.
the next Challange , "We Will Be First"

First of all - CONGRATULATIONS!
I'm sure Tami is thrilled, nothing does a breeders' heart more good, than to know their "creation" has satisfied their owners' hearts.

This sounds like an very interesting competition, does this one have a website that describes it?
Details on the types of things you have to do?
Are there different parts, and how many, like this "pony express" part?
I'd think this would make for a very interesting show for SPECTATORS, too!
Is there a circuit of these type competitions?

Well you all have to understand that she is one heck of a PONY.... he, he....
and her nickname is Pokey - not an accurate name - but it fits her....
And YES - I am extactic... I've gotten an email from Loen all about the event this morning and I will try to get the 2 photos he sent me up here with a copy of the email....
I just wish I could get EVERYONE that has bought a paso from me to jump on here and tell what they do - I get all sorts of wonderful email about their achievements.....
and you all wondered WHY I breed so many of these little jokers....
I have the BIGGEST in the whole world paso grin ever!
Well let me get after those photos....

editted to correct spelling - I'm excited....

Hi Tami
I have the message on the American Paso Fino Website but did not know how to do the picture ,so I am emailing it to you and would have you post the pic for me please .
I hope you enjoy the 2 pics . Its the only ones they got of us cause , mainly , they were to fascinated with us they forgot to take pics or it came out blurry as we were really going thru these things as it was a timed type of obstacle event . 1 We had water crossing , 2 a teeter totter bridge , 3 tarp as well as a tarp haning and shredded and flapping , 4 pony express , (get a paint roller out of a yellow full length rain coat with a hat on top and a bag to get the paint roller out of that was haning on a 4x4 and had to run around a tree and back to a mailbox to put roller in ) , 5 drag a barrel with a 15 foot rope behind you 150 ft. , 6 back up 80 feet around barrels and not go out of bounds , 7 run and jump over several fallen trees in a 500 to 600 foot long , we did that in 14 seconds ,, 8 had to open go thru and close a gate , 9 had to run thru big sprinkers from a water truck and a very loud motor pushing water , and 10 had to go under 2 tractors that had the front end loaders up and touching each other . We had a great time. Look at her run Thats the first time I had ever asked her to work like that. What a great little gal Thank You , Its so wonderful to have her in my life.

They make a "handsome" pair don't they!!!
BTW - this is just a little note for all of you out there that TRAIN YOUR OWN HORSE....
Loen has done every bit of training himself - if he would run into a stickler, he would call or email me and we would walk through the possibilities - from gait issues to medical/sports injuries.... these two have done it together.
SO folks, get in your pasos and go show off.... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Congratulations, Honey! I'm sorry, that we couldn't talk longer on Sunday when you called. We're so proud of you! You've done a great job with her! I was looking for a post earlier, but I couldn't find one. I didn't want to take the honor of posting away from you. You can tell it better anyway! I think, that it's wonderful for a pasos to be the top placers in such an event, especially yours.

Pokey is a sweetheart! I've ridden her when we've played musical horses on the trail. This mare is so well-trained, that she would be perfect for any beginner or child. I've seen Loen get off her from the backend. He's crawled between her legs, and she stands so still for him.

Loen has already worked my Coral-line colt. This week-end, he's taking him home to train, and none of my horses have ever gone out for training! That's how much I trust him with working with my animals. He forms a good relationship with them. As always, I look forward to seeing you again.

Way to go, you two! :D Hopefully, I can get to see you both compete next year! I'll try to get plenty of pictures!

I started another thread regarding my paso, so that this one can remain about Loen, Pokey and what they've accomplished.
