Hey
Remember when we used to post a name of a stallion and everyone would post past experiences with that horse or any info. or even Babies that they have or they have ridden??? Sometime even PICTURES?
I think we should start that again....
Anyone got any ideas on any famous or...infamous Pasos to talk about?
And it does not have to include just stallions, lets be fair.
Hey does any one remember the Fino Champion mare Marquesa de Besilu (I hope I have the right mare)
She is the only mare to go against stallions in Fino championship and WIN. She beat the famous Plebeyo... 8-)

Marquesa was not the only mare to go up against stallions in the fino championship and win. In fact, it happened all the time when they used to show together.

Yeah - can't happen now that the classes are split to slivers and there is _no_ true Grand Championship... Even being a PFHA Champion doesn't have the same impact any more. Last year at Nationals ( or maybe the year before), the last class of the show was the Fino stallion championship... very light spectator turn-out.... not too many cared to watch the fino stallions compete against the fino schooling and A/O horses. The most attended classes were the 'regular' classes with the most numbers/competition - where something was actually at stake. And all the garbage about 'safety' in the ring and not showing mares and stallions together ... pffft. The stallion owners don't want to get their behinds kicked by a mare....

Marquesa was a super little mare. I remember being at that Nationals when she was winning, she was very powerful.

Interesting fact: Marquesa's mom, Manuela del Conde, has produced several champions starting off with JLM's Jaranero , Profeta Segundo de Besilu and of course Marquesa de Besilu.

Different Marquesa.

Here's La Marquesa de Besilu. The mare that won fino championship. She's a Chucuano inbred mare.

Yep, mares would whip stallions all the time in championships.

I'm with Sandy--PFFFTTTT!

I would have to go back and look to remember. Off the top of my head, Pasion was Grand and Monarca was reserve in I think 1988. Marquesa won in 1983 with Plebeyo Reserve. And rumor had it that Marquesa was so sick that her trainer did not want to show her. In 1982 the winner was Campesino LaCE but Reserve was Pandora de Prodeco. I believe she was still a filly at the time. In 1981 Marlena LaCE was I believe Reserve in the Championship. There was also Profetiza, Castanuela and many other mares who were better than most stallions at any given time. Help me out here, Candice.

Yeah, Nito, Manuela was not even a twinkle in her father's eye when Marquesa became Grand National Champion. :D And you call yourself a forum leader.

Well since I know some stuff of Manuela I knew she had a filly by the name of Marquesa de Besilu so yeah. Oh well

Cindy

You might want to check on that as well, Nito. I don't think she has a daughter named Marquesa and it could not be de Besilu 'cause that one is already taken.

Search it up! Her sire is Ghandi de la Vitrina

Cindy

My PFHA CD is too old. Does not even have Ghandi in it.

03-23-2006, 03:39 AM
Maybe you can't find it because Gandhi is spelled differently

Marquesa de Besilu is # 36757 by Gandhi La Vitrina out of Manuela del Conde foaled 6/11/03

Duh, I wondered about the spelling. That's what I get for copying Nito. :D But, alas, no, still not on my CD. The original one is La Marquesa de Besilu. Strange that he would name another one Marquesa who has nothing to do with the original Marquesa.

Hey
The year Marquesa beat Plebeyo, she collapsed after leaving the ring. She had a breathing abnormality that they did not know about...she had so much heart that she when the entire class...which was at LEAST an hour with out breathing properly. I believe they fixed the problem after that class, it was not career threatening.
My trainer has a video of her in a pasture with a foal at her side. and the trainer just jumps on this 20 somthing year old mare with a leadline and halter bareback, and she finos off around the pasture. GREAT mare. She was VERY tight in the front, very ahead of her time.
Yeah I heard that Profetiza was an AMAZING mare as well. She ofcourse is the mother of Profeta!!

The great Kera que tal, hall of famer and whipped the stallions as a filly. This is the mare that set the records for female vs. male.

The great Erectora que tal

Dali Sin Par, a motor for pleasure and performance

It's rare to see stallions that produce and perform with the consistency of a really good mare. They just can't get their act together. Probably too busy worrying about their next ad campaign. Hug that humble mare of yours! Every year I see better mares at shows than stallions.

I can't remember when the gender classes started---doesn't someone have a National show program? It lists the names of champion horses for each class.

1998 was when they had the last combined Championships. Maraquita La Rosa was the first to win a Fino Mare Championship.

The difference between the two Marquesas, the National Fino Champion was La Marquesa de Besilu, the younger one is Just Marquesa de Besilu

well if the stallions could go up agaisnt the mares in the championship who do you think will win?

I pick Maraquita :) and right after her Gaita de Santa Gertrudis

Miami shows still have the combined championships, we just aren't lucky to have Maraquita competing in every show.
