This afternoon I went riding again (my last ride before surgery) with Rose. She rode The Divine Miss Em ... my Emily ... while I rode her "Taz". We had a fantastic ride.
The sun was shining and had some spring warmth in it. The sky was blue. The snow's melting and the roads were dry. It was a PERFECT spring day!
So as we rode down the road, after about a mile, Rose decided to put Emily through her paces. She laid the reins over Em's neck and started moving her arms up and around. Em was steady as a rock. I mentioned that I used to be able to move Em around with my legs, and so Rose started trying. It was truly a pleasure to ride behind them and watch Em weave across the road and back to the touch of Rose's legs! Em responded to Rose's voice commands and her leg commands. They were poetry in motion!
She rode Em like that for over a mile! It was most enjoyable to watch.
Me? I rode Taz like a pro! We did really well, and I am feeling very confident now. As Rose commented, we're about ready to take on trails through the forest. I agree.
Now I just have to get through surgery and get back in the saddle! Cross your fingers for us.
