03/30/2006 02:32 Subject: Lib Tickle needs mare with milk in her area!
PM

I have a very nice two week old filly...

Now...
I need a mare with milk, a mare who might be willing to nurse a 2 week
old filly.

The filly's mother died unexpectantly of colic Monday.

The filly is at Fossett Crest Thoroughbred Farm in Concord GA (south of
Atlanta) .
The farm owner Linda Bledsoe is willing to breed the nurse mare to one
of her stallions for free for the use of the mare to mother this filly.
I will happily pay rent for the use of the mare to nurse this filly.

If you know of anyone who has a wet mare,
Please give me or Linda a call or email.
This filly really needs a mare, she is not doing well on milk replacer.

Update on orphan filly. email from the owner. She does need a horse mama still since the pony is so small. Milk replacer caused scours.
Here's her reply to me.

Many Thanks to everyone !!!
This week I found out what a great group horse people are.
I'm humbled by the phone calls I got from such wonderfully nice caring people.

We aren't out of the woods yet... but after a couple of mares we found a pony who would let my filly nurse.
The filly is as tall as the pony... quite a sight to behold.
We have a bigger mare who is interested in this little girl and we are trying to bring her milk back into production.
Linda Bledsoe is going above & beyond the call of duty working with this little girl, pumping her full of electrolytes and never letting her out of her site.

Thanks to Lee, Jennifer, Pam, Donna, Rick, Wanda, Brenda, Beki, Kim, Mike who immediately called to offer their mares, and Gill, Maureen & Rachel who offered to trailer one.

The calls gave me hope and kept my spirit going.
I found how far reaching email is, the calls came in from FL, NC, SC, AL, GA, VA.
Honestly, I would have traveled to the end of the earth to pickup a mare for this baby.
I saw my little filly for the first time Friday when I trailered 2 mares to Linda's farm.
I know I'm partial, but this little girl is dark chocolate brown, tall and leggy with big brown eyes, gorgeous !
I'm hoping her temperature stabilizes, and her digestive system settles.
She is calling for the pony and the bigger mare is calling for the filly.
Everyone cross your fingers for me and this little girl.

Humbly... Many Thanks !!!

I raised an orphan filly under the same circumstances. I did not get a replacement mare. I put mine on milk pellets which I softened until her teeth were in all the way. She did fine.

Good luck and welcome!!!!
