My grandfather just got some easy boots for his barefooted Paso, and he wanted me to ask you guys what you thought of the easy boots? He wants to use them for shipping and long trail rides(2 day trail rides). Thanks for your time!

Since I did not weigh in on that thread I will weigh in here just for a different opinion. I don't know why you would want to use the boots for shipping. A barefoot horse does not need any hoof protection in the trailer.
As far as riding goes, if the horse can go barefoot, do that but if it needs shoes, put shoes on the horse. They are better for the horse than riding in these boots.

Hopefully the world won't end now, but I fully agree with Cindy here.

The only times I think Easy Boots are a good idea are for 1) parading a barefoot horse. I think they give some padding and traction on asphalt and cement. and 2) if you had a barefoot horse and went on one rocky trail ride a year or similar circumstance.

Other then that use, I wouldn't use them. I fully believe in shoeing horses that have soft feet, or are riden on rocks, or are riden enough to wear their feet down too much to go barefoot.

I for sure would not use them trailering...I think the attachments would cut opposing legs of nervous and kicking horses in a trailer.

Easy boots are not needed for shipping. I do love them though..they are great for trail riding in the decomposed GRANITE of Colorado....
There is another thread on boots somewhere on this BB...go check it out.

i also say that you would not need the easyboots for shipping the horse. no need for them in that situation.

they work very well as an alternative to shoeing if you will be riding in rocky terrain, gravel roads or pavement. the two day trail rides you speak of would be a good time to try them out and see how you like them.
easy boots are well designed and do a really good job. they work very well on paso fino horses. i never had a problem with them, and they didnt affect my horses' gait either.
