He wants me to play with the horses now so he don't have to here me wine about not having one and tring to talk him in to letting me get one. But, I have a little secret that he don't know about. ssshhhh, I am going to get me a horsey or two and more. yep I will. You wait and see.

Sorry Boyd, we'd planned on that one too! We sold a boat Sat. morning and that process took a long time, longer than we had planned.

Boyd what is the schedule for the fun show??? We called and the guy didn't seem to know a whole lot about what was happening? Are there any classes or are we just fooling around??? What is there to do on your own or with your own horses???

Boyd R

Cindy may have the show schedule since she is the judge. The show will be in the afternoon I think 2-5. I am still peeved at her for last year when Two was firing on all cylynders and she said he was falling off to toche

This Picture was taken on the final backside before we came down the board.

SOME JUDGES NEED GLASSES :D ROFL.

Cindy

Well wait and see what happens to you NOW, Boyd. Perhaps next time you should just send the picture instead of actually riding in the class.

MGs, there is a clinic in the morning with Jose Ortiz and a fun show in the afternoon. I don't know the schedule but it will not be a full schedule. But there will be plenty of classes to show in.

Cindy
04-06-2006, 08:50 PM
By the way, Boyd, I have a picture like that from last year as well. However, it was from the Asheville show. And it was from the class where my filly was excused for lack of gait. Oh, and my filly won the class the day before. And the picture was three on the floor as well. Oh, and it was on the SOUNDING BOARD!!! So I think if I can get over that, there is a good chance that you can get over this. :bsmile

To be quite honest Cindy I was shocked to see the photo also. He was not quite as smooth as he can be in either class. The first class he nailed the board IMHO andd the second he was definitly off. And if I had placed higher than Roja or Christy than you would have had someone complaining. Two and I just enjoy showing off. Which in front of Paso owners usually means ambarasing ourselves. So when Heidi showed me this pic I said DANGGGGG that boy can look good. And Thank You Heidi For such a wonderful shot of our Boy.

Cindy

Boyd, that horse is not anywhere near an embarrassment in any arena. If I had ten of him, I would have ten happy owners.

You are welcome Boyd. I'll be there again with camera and fully charged batteries! I've already had someone call me to see if I was bringing my camera. ;-) I plan on wearing my blue vest with a horse stitched on the back.
Heidi

ps, if you (anyone from APFs.com) see me, grab me and ask me to come take pics of you and/or your horse.

Madison is South of Athens and Watkinsville.
Just North of Hwy20. 278/12 runs E/W and 129/441/24 runs N/S. I'll be traveling hwy83 as that is the most direct route for me.

We are having thunder storms and lots of rain. Reports of a tornado in Marietta which is about 50mi(?) directly West from me.
I cannot drive my car in the rain, it likes to hydroplane. :( Its also 28 years old and leaks.
So, it looks like I'll be staying home and unless the weather clears by noon I won't be making it to the show, either. I have the camera bag ready to go in case it does clear up. Sorry to disappoint anyone wanting photos.

Just got home! The weather did clear, though it began to rain when I was 5mi from the show grounds. (grrr!)
I met a lot of great people and took many photos, around 130, so I should have some good ones. I took many email addys and will gather a few more email addys through APFs.com and send photos over the weekend.
I'm beat and need to lay down to re-charge. I'll get started organizing the pics this evening.

Heidi,
I love photography, and would like to become better then I currently am. At this point I'm usung a digital 10x optical zoom 2.1 megapixels, as well as a 8x optical zoom 3.2 megapixels both are Olympus. I use these when I'm seriously trying to get good photo's. I also just bought an el cheapo Kodak 3 megapixel only 3x optical zoom specifically for when I go riding so if it gets wet, or otherwise broken I woun't have to cry. I've had really good results with both.

Out of curiosity what kind of camera are you using? Some day I wan't a nice digital with the lenses that can be switched out.

Heidi
04-08-2006, 11:02 PM
I am certainly NOT a professional! I am just a photo-hound. :D Kenny calls me the most picture taking-est person he's ever met.

We have a Sony 10x zoom FD Mavica. Sorry, that is all the info I can find on the camera. It uses a floppy disc as 'film' so I have instant gratification with photos. Directly to computer and I was able to take the disc to Sam's and select pics for developing but they've changed their machines and now I email them and p/u the next day.
I'd love a fully automated, zoom camera like the 35mm (35mm type lenses) but is digital.

Ok Heidi nappy time is over Pics please. LOL

We had a good time. Gave plenty of demo rides. Gally was an angel giving demo rides, Good thing to her manners in the ring were absolute horrible. But in her defense she had pulled a groin muscle and by the time she got in the ring she had given many a ride and probabley a little cranky. She got a big reward when she got home, a double helping at dinner and got to graze the yard.

And then there was Dos. It is final he will never ride to another show with another horse. He decided that Gally would not be safe without him at her side to protect her. I first took Gally out to warm up and he had a fit and got his leg through the bars on the stall. So we got him out for demos also and though things went ok he tested the will of several test riders in attempt to get back to Gally. During his classes he wanted to play skip to my lu. He did give the judge a good muddn though    ;-)
And as soon as we got home He completely forgot about Gally and went back to his own business.

Sometimes I just want to drive a size 9 up that rear end.

Just got all photos loaded into the computer. 7 discs @ about 20 pics each! Not all of them are good...many of the ones I tried zooming during the show portion of the event came out blurry. I needed to bring my tripod.
I'll be organizing email addys and then sending out emails shortly...

Boyd,
We used to have an App gelding like that. If he trailered somewhere with a horse he felt it was his job to protect that horse for the entire show or trail ride. One time we took him and a weanling that we were showing halter, he piched such a fit at Perry (in the horse barn) he was rearing up & leaning on the wall so he could look over the top to check on the baby. we finally put the baby in the stall with him to calm him down. I had more "professionals" walk by & state I really should have weaned the baby before trying to show him. we'd just say take a really good look at that "mare". It was interesting at best.

Thanks - we got all the pix! I love the one of Bronce going through the puddle and across the board! That's probably the only time he'll ever get to show against Pasos, so it was very special for us. You got several really nice ones of Greg and Pete, too! Thanks for taking and sharing all the pix!

Also, thanks to Cindy for not totally giving us the boot - even though we know Bronce is most confident on the trails. He did all that I asked and I appreciate getting the chance to let him experience working in a show ring.

Thanks to GPFHA for putting on an educational and entertaining Open House!

I'll have to get some of them loaded on our website and then post a couple here.

Thanks Heidi for sharing some of these pix you took... These are of Bronce... as far as I know, he has never been in a show ring, certainly not since he has been blind. These pix give a great shot of the Zilco AirLite hood/mesh eye screens we use to protect his eyes from injury from branches, dirt, etc. I really like the 3rd picture as it shows him moving out willingly on a loose rein... and the rest of his headgear is a very lightweight noseband with a moderate curb....

He will be 9 May 31st and has been totally blind (not genetic) for about 2 years. We just started riding him about 3 months ago after a 3-4 year lay-off. All the riding - except for this weekend - has been on trails with elevation/footing changes, water crossings, switchback trails.... challenging! We're very happy we have him!

You chose some of my fave pics of him!
Everyone notice how Bronce is 'feeling' the edge of the sounding board. His hoof tipped into the dirt along the edge and he lifted his foot as he brought it forward, dragging it through the dirt (kicking it up on the sounding board) until he could feel the edge of it (which is the point he has reached in the photo) and then I watched him step up firmly onto it.
I loved watching the trust he has for Sandy. The pic of him moving out on a loose rein says it all!
Heidi

...now have Greg post some of Pete! :D

Sandy,
You should blow that up to an 8 x 10 andframe it with a mat. I just did several of my horses and found really nice frame mat combo's at Walmat for between $14 & $19 dollars. That photo is nice enough quality to spend the $$ on. Kudos to the photographer!

One of my favorite nieces.... she's got a steady hand on the shutter and a great camera with a _long_ lens! I may be camera shopping soon... but that's another thread... :D
