I got this e-mail via Sandy Young in Idaho. Anyone needing a well trained or well bred pony for their child might be able to help out. These ponies would be located in Washington state. They didn't say so, but I imagine they have harnesses and carts to sell too.

I have just spent a very serious and stressful day with a dear
friend who is losing her battle with cancer. She is in Colville and she raises Shetland Ponies. She is the gal who has Story Book Farm and does the therapy dogs and ponies for kids. She also has the pony ride at the fairs, and other events in and around Spokane.

She has entrusted me to find homes for over 30 ponies. Some are well trained, obviously for the pony ring, and some pull carts as well. But the majority are breeding stock. She has solid and pinto ponies.
Her husband is in need of funds, although he isn't going to admit it, although Mo told me herself. But he is more worried about finding good homes for all of them. And as soon as possible because he doesn't have the needed funds for another month of feed at this point. Some haven't had feet done in some time, as well as general upkeep. But they have all had lots of love and attention from birth. We are only going to ask $300.00 for the well trained ones and $200.00 for the rest. Just enough to help him a little. But mostly he won't have to worry about the feed and care any more. And both Jeff and Mo want them to go to folks who will love them and care for them.

If anyone is interested in a nice pony or could PLEASE pass this on to other horse folks that may be interested I would really appreciate it.

How sad :(

Me too. I'd love a Shetland, especially one that could drive ... but getting one up here could prove awfully expensive. *sigh*

Man O Man..........that's exactly what I want for my GDaughter......and wouldn't ya know it'd be the wrong time for something like this to happen.

I sure hope they find homes for all of the little guys.

Okay ... so ... anybody live near the ponies and want to have a holiday in Banff or Jasper? *grin* It's a beautiful place to holiday! We'd put you up at our place if you wanted to do the "West Edmonton Mall" thing while in the neighbourhood.

(I would LOVE to have a pony and a cart!)

Oh! If anyone takes Jane up on her offer and just happens to be going in August...bring another pony along!

A few ppl on my board are talking about buying and shipping together to a central place and then going to pick up their horse from there. Should save on shipping they think. Anyway, the ponies would be shipped to OH/PA area. Anybody around there that wants one, let me know and I'll hook you up with one of them.

I am looking for a pony for my grandchildren so if any are coming to the Southeast I would be interested. It is a very long way to Washington State but I could help out with expenses if anyone is coming this way.

Since my board is a private board, I'll send them here

I am one of the persons that PH is talking about that lives in Ohio and interested in getting one of these ponies (well, I am trying to get two but hubby isn't as receptive as I had hoped LOL)

Anyways, the cost could be pretty expensive but if there are other members that want them and we can work it out that they are on the same load...perhaps the cost would be significantly lower!

No, I haven't gotten the chance to ride one..not sure if that is good or bad LOL..I do believe PH is correct...I would be hooked...and the bad part is...one that is well broke would be being sold for more money that I can offer at the moment.

I am looking at under $1300 by the way, if you know of anyone who is seling one for so little! LOL

Anyways, I just received an email from the contact person regarding those ponies...they have all been sold already!!!

One ride was all it took for me to be converted.

Yeah, that's what happened to me too. Also got a "For Sale" sign posted above all my QH's but Tina. I quit riding them and they were just getting fat. No point in that.

These horses really DO spoil you. I think everyone should go spend a week on a trotting horse somewhere. You'll learn to appreciate your Paso very much.
