The Paso Fino name comes from the spaniish words fine step. The name does not lie this horse has an even four beat lateral gait that you can sit for hours and not get tired. The most common gaits are walk, corto, largo, and fino.

Classic Fino is by far My favorite event to watch or experience. The horse is balanced and collected with rapid footfall and slow forward speed, demonstration a rapid, steady, and unbroken rhythm

Pleasure and Performance). Performance horses tend to perform a slower Corto, with a shorter stride and more rapid footfall. The Pleasure Paso Fino tends to have a faster, more relaxed Corto. Most Classic Fino horses are also capable of performing a Corto, and when they do it is in the style of the Performance Paso.

Both Performance and Pleasure styles of Paso Fino perform the Largo with once again hock action and rear end drive and execution being stronger in the Performance Paso. The Largo is not JUST a change of speed, also there most see a change in the extention of strides.

I can't believe how many people rode H/J before they went over to paso finos. When I was 2 i started riding donkeys. When i was 4 1/2 i started taking western riding lessons. I got board of it and then when i was 5 1/2 i moved over to H/J then when i was 7 or 8 my mom started working at a paso fino farm and it caught my interest. Now i'm devoted to the breed. Yes i still ride trotting horses but i would rather be riding a paso.I would especially rather be jumping a paso then a trotting horse because Indio is the best jumping horse i've ever ridden.

Ok. I think Kelly is the bomb too. She is a pleasure to watch ride.
And I am proud of how she has made her way through a latin male dominated world and earned so much respect from the paso fino community. Great role model ladies. 8-)

El Indio Elegante,
Thank you for your reply. It's true many people started in Hunter Jumper because it is sort of more known than Paso Finos. Thats why its our job to show everyone about the best breed of horse. Its our mission to permote the fantastic breed that we so amazingly have. In my opionion, starting out h/j is not a bad idea because it builds up your equitition.

Pasogirlz/admin,
Your right about Kelly Cox. Out of so many trainers she was trainer of the year. In that year it was her time to shine. She couldn't have done it better. She out rides, out wits, and outstand many people. She is defantly role model worthy.

My trainer that lives in Ocala, Florida, lives right behind Kelly Cox. When we go trail riding, We always see kelly. I can tell her that she should visit americanpasofinos.com and go to the paso kids fourm, and see what the kids say about her. And thanks for sparking my mind.
