The latest I've read is that he competed when he was ill so perhaps his medications are the reason???

What was he sick from that he was getting medications for?

My first thought was - why is a horse that sick competing?

May not have been that sick. May have been sick and gotten over it but still on meds.

I agree with you Sandy. If he was sick why was he competing??? That's not an excuse.
If he was taking any med's the trainer was suposed to know that on a test may be positive, isn't she a vet, judge, trainer..........

It's not that black and white. Some medications are acceptable at certain levels and some are not acceptable at all. Also, for the ones that are forbidden, there is a time frame factor. Some medications must be reported if the horse is on them. Others do not. Mistakes can be made. I would not critcise unless I knew all the details. If there were no disciplenary actions taken against the owner and/or trainer then it was most likely a mistake and a medication given for the wellbeing of the horse. Not in order to give the horse an advantage in the ring. It would be nice to have all the information.

I agree with you Cindy. PFHA should give official news and explain what really happened.
I only know that the horse was disqualified.

It will most likely be listed in the USEF magazine if that is the reason. Where did you hear it from?

Pasopedigree. The thread is in Spanish mostly.

I called PFHA and they told me that the horse was disqualified, and then I called the USEF and they told me that the owner/trainer/horse were not suspended.
But it is for sure that he got positive on his blood and urine test.

OK - the pasopedigree site is rumoring a drug infraction and saying the horse was known to be 'mucho' sick. Also allegations regarding a PFHAGate....

Now - my next question is - could it be that the horse was sabotaged...? It's happened before and some horses were permanently crippled...

When I had Antares at Nationals, I slept in his stall and he never left my sight - and I didn't even think we were in contention...

Especially around that time, hooves were being cut, feed was being dumped into stalls over the walls, etc...

So - there are many possibilities...

when i posted the info in paso pedigree, one guy said that the horse was sick and because of the medications he got positive on the test. Other one said PFHAGate...people can say too many things but the true is that the horse is disqualified for being positive on the blood and urine test.and that is not a rumor, you can call PFHA .

I know where YOU heard it from MGs. I read over there too ya know. AJ is the one that posted it over there. AJ, why did you call PFHA about it in the first place?

For one thing, the hearing would have been thorugh USEF, not PFHA. And I can assure you that they do not care who any of the people involved are. Secondy, there is nothing illegal with them not being suspended. That is what the hearings are for.

It possibly be they gave Bute and Banamine within the same time frame. You can give one or the other but not two different NSAIDS. This is what happened to German Higuera and Chapiro last year. They gave it within the required time before showing but they gave two different NSAIDS instaed of sticking to just one.

Well if you want to be "smart" about it Cindy    - I wondered why you asked in the first place since it was posted that the story would be in Paso Fino Horse World one would assume it came from PFHA?? ;-) ;-) ;-) The owner should probably make a statement to stop all the rumors unless there is an appeal underway. Can this ruling be appealed???

It' a shame anyway. I'm assuming unless there is difinitive evidence it was an accident and hope he'll have the chance to reclaim his crown in the future so all will know he deserves it.

Cindy, First of all I call the PFHA because it is OUR association and when I heard the rumors before posting anyhting i wanted to certify that what I heard was true.
And I dont care if the suspend or if they dont, I just want PFHA to explain why in this case there were no suspensions so we can all understand and people can stop complaining when they give an official explanation.
