Name all those which you think are going to be the best in the show ring or the breeding shack.
these past few years have been dominated by young stallions so tell me which are the best!

I would like to see some offspring out of Heredero.
Anyone seen any thingout of Tormento yet?
I think Pedregal is looking promising in both the ring and breeding shed.

Hey!
Good questions nito!
I want to see how those Imponote fillies look when they get around 2 yrs. And I think the big fino stallion for next year is going to be Imponote. He is going to be more mature and trained,no more trocha! I mean really if they can get those bits of not gaiting out, he would be pretty untouchable. He is the slowest (forward movment) out there.Plus blazing feet and a quiet croup. Also if Tormento is showin in the USA he will be the big one as well. And I hope to see Pedrigal again, we did not see much of him last year..(the one that just passed). I want to see some babies out of Pedrigal! Has anyone seen any? Also the babies out of JoyeroIII.
My picks for the 2006 season are
Tornado & Arco Iris
also Tormento ( the recent double World Champion ) will be returning to the United States to compete and of course as a stud! Hopefully with Pedregal's rival (Tormento) in the United States we will see him more often as well.
I had a pedregal colt he was soon to be 6 months but got poisoned by creeping indigo and died. :-?
Imponente has some interesting offsprings already. I believe la libertad has some that will premier this year or the next. Hacienda La Rosa has one called Poseiden which should be saddled up already so we'll see!
And with the return of Prometido de Selecta in the ring things will deffinatly heat up!!!!
cmon people I know you have a favorite! Does anyone know of a Performance stallion that is doing real good thats capable of beating El Principe Heredero ( National Performance Champ) ???

I would like to see (or hear about) some of the "unknowns" that are being hidden in the back stalls of the barns..... ;-)
Maybe the ones the folks walk by and say - hmmmm...... what do you think of him????
You know of any? Hey Lori - what's hidden down your way?
Got to be a few in the Ocala area.....
What about out near Carol N.... Got to be a few back burners waiting out there somewhere.
I really love a long shot - I know the big dogs can produce great stuff but what about the ones that come out of know where..... I think that El Chino was one of those at one time.
What about those in PR and Columbia? :?: :?: :?: :?:

There are two one in Colorado, that I'm aquainted with... ... the only thing WRONG with them, is that I don't OWN them!!
One is a Pedregal son... chestnut sabino
And one is by a virtual unknown....but is also a chestnut
It may be the year of the chestnuts in 2008!!

Reymidas De Monte Verde. He was owned by Herby Merryweather and he was here for a year or more, I'm not sure. My friend has a filly by him, very fast, but very lazy and VERY short. There are two more Reymidas offspring here. One that came from Curacao is looking very promissing. And contrary to my friend's mare is TALL and has brio. I'll post some pics later of them
Rey Midas is now in Ocala being ridden by Jaime Suarez and Ruben Sierra the baseball player is the owner.
talking about Ruben Sierra he also owns Marcapasos which at nationals and Mundial had a large number of offsprings which did real good. We might see him in the top ten sires anytime soon now.
saw some offsprings of Heredero at where he used to be ( Hacienda Jonseb ) and he has some nice babys there.

Desafiante (Reymidas x Olimpia)
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/Brigi26/Desafiante.jpg
I believe her lazyness is because of her dam, who get reserve granc champion once. Her dam now gets used as a tourist horse, still has a comfy fino but otherwise not much brio. I do believe you can get nice offspring out of Reymidas. Because of the two fillies I've seen by him, they are opposites of eachother which leads me to believe that the mare makes most of the difference. The two fillies have the same color as Reymidas but that's where it ends too.
Desafiante doesn't have much brio, is short and her paso however fast she my is, she isn't "pulido" ( cant remember the english translation, term that means when they have slow forwardmovement). Desafiante's dam is the same, not much brio, round 14 hands i think or less and not pulido.
The other filly is TALL. Around 15.5 hands and younger then Desafiante, has brio and is definetly pulido and showing alot of promise . She is also a bit hard in the mouth. Her dam is a nice fino mare, sister of a multi- Grand champion stallion here. The dam is also tall, has brio and very hard in the mouth.
Looking at all of these, I believe the dams make most of the difference.

Tammy- I really like Delerio de Valpariso. He has some nice offspring on the ground too. I would like to see more of this stallion, he is very fluid and fast, and WOW what a back end.
the infamous Delirio !
Awesome horse and awesome offsprings! my Resorte IV foaled his baby a month ago and the baby girl is starting to look GREAT!
Out of all of the farms i've been to theres not one horse that has offsprings like these! and its ALL of them!!!
Delirio has some funny habbits lol he sticks out his tounge and if you dont flick it, he'll try to bite you!
How about Torbellino de la Sierra?
or Dulce Sueño de Lusitania which is in Colombia he is sire of Gaita de Santa Gertrudis and Dulce Miel which won the Nationals at Colombia
and Recently in Miami - Canelo de Capitan - very nice disposition for being sired by Capitan del Danubio

Bu-u-u-u-u-ckskins.... love'm!
Are these pure Colombians?
CRIADERO J.R.

I dont think that Canelo de Capitan is pure Colombian, check his Dam pedigree. But he is a very nice horse,he should have won the a/o stallion class in the Spectrum. That was the only class the judges got it wrong.
Yeah Canelo de Capitan is 1/4th PPR he goes back to the guanami lines

I'd like to see a stallion liberty class like where someone posted before.
How about 5 minute turn the stallion lose in the arena and watch it move at liberty, (2 minutes to catch, then tack up while next horse goes) and then ride the rail together after all the liberty performances.
The audience could score each section...the liberty and the under saddle..add the scores... and judge by the amount of applause for each placement per horse...place 1-6.
Now wouldn't that be a great entertaining way to exhibit a stallion. If not loose on a long lunge line to see how the horse flows/moves naturally.........
ahhh........in a perfect world.

I love the sound of that but wouldn't we have to have some "in heat" mares around to really get them to show their stuff?

sounds like fun but probebly not a good idea...
What if the stallion was released and then the rider could not catch him within the five minutes...the class could go on for hours. Also in fino classes you want the horses brio totally centered on the difficult task at hand. You would not want to lose any energy or stamina during the liberty section. Thats why no one gets on a fino horse until it is time to enter the ring, finoing for an hour is hard enough, without warm-up.
Now if it is an exibition then yea that would be a great idea!
Didn't the stallion named Gandi (sp?) from the Besilu farm do that a couple of years ago at Nationals?

I really like the idea of the liberty. It would of course be a demonstration, not done by the competing horses unless their class was already over. Sounds like great fun!

Do people have trouble catching stallions when loose?
Mine thinks well its time to go see the girls and show off when he sees me or its feeding time, and comes right to me (MOST of the time). He actually one of my easiest horses to catch as he gets managed the most, and just expects something good will happen.
wouldn't that be fun to see more stallions exhibited that way. Ghandi was done that..there were several handlers in the ring to keep him moving. You know how stallions like to sniff the dirt to smell where other horses have been!!!

Well, my stallion is "generally" easy to catch, but frankly he takes advantage of any time to act like a fool! Or rather set me up to look like one! His favorite trick is to act like he has NO idea who I am and is scared to even put a nose whisker out to touch my hand. This from a 24/7 pasture pony.
There is NO way I would turn him loose in an arena with people watching!  That would be too much for the show off! He'd probably go to a complete stranger before coming to me. It would be unforgettable all right.
Overall, I've had more problems catching a mare than any stallion I've owned. Most are lap kittens or like Lynn's thinking I'm the gateway to some hanky panky.

I just saw a stallion liberty class at Rancho Fino in Ojai, CA. There were four or five stallions in the class. (Wish there had been more!) They each had one or two handlers in the arena to help keep them moving. There were two mares in an adjacent pasture attracting their interest. It was pretty funny how they would call to each other. The audience around the arena was encouraged to help keep the stallions moving, and the handlers did what they could to keep 'em going.
I was astonished when every one of the stallions was caught in the two minute time frame.
I took a ton of photos, but it was hard to get good ones. The horses were either too far away or moving past me in a blur while flinging up coarse sand. It was AWESOME! These are both Rancho Fino stallions, sorry I don't remember their names.

My studs have been easy to catch for the most part. In fact, if my husband feeds them while we're doing chores and I haven't interacted with them yet, I can usually call them over to me for a greeting. My mares have tended to love their food too much to do this. I certainly love stallions! :D

Hello All:
Criadero Los Andes has just acquired a stallion recently imported from Colombia. He is the new cover boy of Criadero Los Andes.
A black son out of the famous Hussein (Terremoto de Manizales x Finura del 8) out of a patrimonio del 8 (Amadeus x Aristocracia) daugther whose mother is a daugther of Castellano (Resorte IV x La Castellana (Duque and Resorte III lines)) and a Dayan line bred mare.
If you check the stud book, this stallion is only the second stallion in the US to be a black son out of Hussein and only one of 32 babies in the US produced by Hussein.
He will be standing in North Carolina for the remainder of the 2006 breeding season and for the entire breeding season of 2007.
His stud fee has not yet been determined for the 2007 breeding season however if anyone is interested for this season, special arrangements can be made.
If his training and transition to his new environment go well - expect to see him at the nationals this year and at the November Tampa Grand Prix.
As a short introduction to this stallion; he is blue black in color, stands 14 hands, fino gaited with even traction, quiet croup, smooth, quick, with ears that are typically seen on Patrimonio offspring. He has a beautiful black mane, forlock, and tail that is absolutely breath taking. I have been told that women would absolutely die to have his hair.
And this is just to begin to wet the palate of the discriminating breeder.
Thanks,
James

I have a nice boy out of Pretensioso de la Virginia. He is fino, fino with very even cadence, and a great mind. I like his father as a breeding stallion. The mother of Pretensioso is the world champion mare, Allhambra out of Cappuchino, and patrimonio is the father of this horse. I think he is with Jamie Suarez and his owner is offering a $1000 dollar stud fee for amateur owners. This horse was 5th fino stallion at grand prix. He is particularly a good choice for the diagnol mares, or those needing work with foot timing. Anyway, I am very happy with the colt I have out of him, and as an amatuer owner, the temperment is a definate must.

Karen, thanks for the info on Pretensioso. There is something about this stallion that always draws me back to him and I wondered what kind of offspring he was producing. What bloodlines does the mare of your colt have?
karenf
02-18-2007, 07:53 PM
I think I may have the first of his offspring. The mare of my colt is fino with strong hocks. She was imported from Colombia, and may have placed at nationals in fino mares. She is a daughter of Mago de La Luisa (Patrimonio x Candelazo daughter, this horse is really producing wonderful things in Cali), and Caipirinha de Santillana ( Rescate x Nutibara daughter).
Pretensioso is best described as a horse with inward Brio, he will go and stay in gait forever with perfect cadence. His mother was gorgeous and a gaiting machine as well, with the refinement and style of Capuchino. He is a horse that will only get better, as he has been lately.
I would say take a mare to him with decent hocks, as I think his movement is low and refined, and like most Patrimonio sons, keep an eye on the size. Some of them seem really small, and Pretensioso is not a large horse. He is very sweet, noble, and likes to work.
