The weather yesterday was beautiful. 73 degrees and still lots of snow to play in.

You can see where the fence was still covered here:

This creek hasn't run under our road for years!!

Listo and I got into a few areas where the snow was up to his chest!! That was a blast. I've never ridden in deep snow like that before - it's always too cold in winter, but this spring snow is so fun!!

Back home again:

When we got home, I noticed the neighbor boy opening my gate up on the hill above my house (my property is boarded by their property on 3 sides). I rode up to check it out, and he had disappeared behind the hill again. Next thing I knew, a herd of cattle came up over the hill. It looked like they were missing the gate and coming on over to my back yard. Listo was such a good boy and helped me move them back toward the gate and soon the 4 cowboys showed up over the hill too. We ran up the hill to meet them, once all the cows were through the gate. Scott said, "Debbie, you're just in time". He's never seen Listo under saddle before - "Hey, is that one of those gaited deals?", he asks.....

Anyway, it was a great day. I was proud of Listo. I'm sure he was pooped after all the snow climbing..... then to just run up the hill after those cows... what a good boy ;-)

Listo showed those cowboys just how smart those gaited deals are... :D

Sounds like you had a great time. I just cant get over snow and 73 degrees all at the same time.

Debbie,

Cool story. Course I'm partial to any story that has the word cowboy in it. Must be the city girl in me........lol

I love it when our "gaited deals" show the rest of the world they can do anything other horses can do (only better :D ) Good job Listo!

Maybe we should nominate Listo for "Breed Ambassador" for the year! He's such a good boy. Way to go Debbie.

Beth, mine are pretty much shed out too. We just have strange weather here  every spring. It's supposed to be warm now for quite awhile. They say warmer/drier than usual May (whatever that means).

I talked to one of our horsey friends last night. She hadn't heard from Cheryl yet. I know she was going to stop in Ohio to visit family. I can't wait to see Perfecto in person!!! How did the delivery go??

The exchange went well. Not many horses, paso or otherwise could handle the situation like Perfecto. The Roth’s parked on the off ramp of 86 (a MAJOR 4 lane interstate) and I pulled off the exit ramp. I parked under the overpass. Trucks and cars whipping overhead, beside, and down both ramps all around us. Unloaded the boy. Cortoed (read “trotted”) him out so they could see he was still sound (and always has been). BIG trucks going by, wind just a-whipping, rain starting. Changed halters, Randy picked out his feet, loaded and unloaded him 2 times – wanted to see how he went on a ramp load having never used one. Absolutely no problem what-so-ever. But what could we expect? After all he IS Perfecto! And, yes, I miss him, but his little sis is the same horse, different color so it makes the loss less bad.
