This is a horrible disease called something like stone man disease where the person with the genetic abnormality which is really a tiny abnormality, will grow new bone and form almost a second skelton when injured. The reason I mentioned it is I wonder if something very similar may be the reason for the DSLD found in Peruvian pasos??? In this case the suspensories heal with cartilege instead of normal suspensory tissue. The last I read they think it happens elsewhere in the horse but is most obvious in the suspensories. DSLD in other breeds is very different from that found in Peruvians. It would be great if they could cure it!
