Hello again everyone! What is a good shampoo's to keep the grey dapples looking their best? And for the mane and tail to be white and silky? I know alot of TLC is involed and I love brushing and working the knots out. What feed helps also? Does anyone had a good story or experience?! :confused

I like baby shampoo, just because I thing 'gentle' is the way to go. I prefer human Aussie RINSE to have nice mane and tail hair. And for white, you can get the white (I forget the name) stuff they sell for grannys. It really does white them up.
Now...how to keep them from turning green again???? The only hope is to clean their stall/coral several times a day. You can braid and bag the tail and protect it, but then you OWE it to the horse to be generous and frequent with fly repelant.

I like Quiksilver shampoo, worked pretty good on my gray mare.

I use Mrs. Stewarts bluing after shampooing a white mane or tail. You have to be careful of how much you use or you will give them blue hair (like the old lady hair) I try to make the rinse water a nice sky blue, pour it on and leave it.

Cocoasoya (from Uckele) is THE BEST for any color! It gives them a beautifully glossy, healthy coat from the inside out. It has all the "healthy" fats & all the omegas. I've been using it forever, and I always get asked..."what'd ya brush these horses everyday or somethin'?"

You can still get Mrs. Stewarts in the laundry section in some stores. It was used for hair and laundry way back when ;-) It comes in a small blue plastic bottle and only takes a few drops mixed in water.

If I know it is going to rain----I have a spray bottle of Tresame'conditioner mixed with enough water to make it easy to spray on---& go out & spray everyones mane & tail-work it through with my hands. After the rain you can brush their manes & tails so much easier. It is cheap----$3.00 for 32 oz. I do this all year long. You can use whatever type of Tresame' your horse needs. I use Moisturising. I use the corresponding shampoo. It is cheaper than Mane & Tail. I have used the bluing & QuickSilver, & White Minx rinse on my geldings mane, tail & body before.

I know some people bathe their white/grey horses with sugar before shows to make them shine.

I think I just like the way it looks after all the "ELBOW GREASE" you put into it, pays off. Nice and long, shiny and smooth to the touch!! I think I should of went to beauty school instead of podiatry! :tongue
