Some of you that I correspond with might remember my slight disappointment at unloading Bunny off the trailer and seeing how light she was in color.
Here's a pic of her shortly after I got her...

Well, lo and behold, I took a shedding blade to the young lady the other day, and it was like unwrapping a late Christmas present! Look at what she's shedding out to...

She's still got a few winter hairs to go... I can't wait to see what color she will be when she slicks down! (Oh, yeah, I know she looks a little fat but she's just coming off winter, and believe me, this mare is an easy keeper...she only gets about 3 1/2 pounds of grass hay per feeding and her tiny little half acre pasture to graze on!).
Am I gonna have my Golden after all???? :D
(I can't wait to breed this girl to the Redman! ;-) )

P.S. Bunny's belly is available for lease this year only, and to a Pure Puerto Rican stallion only.

Tell you what, Carol...if you are disappointed in her, send her to me! ;-) I think she is just stunning, light or not.

Great!! My buckskin is like night and day between his winter and summer coats also. Show us a pic. when she is completely shed.

You also made me feel better. I have a mare and am trying to work out what to feed her. She is on a half acre. I am going by 1.5 x her weight which is alot more than Bunny is getting. So, if I have to cut down from that I won't feel so bad.

They do tend to be much lighter in winter unless they get sun bleached in summer.

That was a very nice color hiding underneath!

Here's another shot from the front (sigh, all these ponies are so dirty) so you can see she's really not THAT fat. Jodi, I've found that that ration of 1.5 lbs. of intake per 100 lbs. of horse is way too much for most Pasos. And you have to remember that ALSO means grain included. Bunny only gets 2 cups of Nutrena Safe Choice, morning and night.
Also here you can see she still has a fair amount of white hair to shed off...(hey, don't ya just love her forelock???)

(I'm also wondering if I'm seeing high white stockings????)

Her hooves look black to me so no high white just light legs until they shed.

Ha, Linda...NOT LIKELY!!! ;-)

(Not only is this girl purdy...she's got a personality to die for!
This is a prime example of a horse that has never been mistreated!)
