This computer has seen it's days - only some things work - so it is time for a new one!
If I "fix" this one - it would cost more than a new tower ! Needs memory and hard drive replaced :( Then factor in labor - No brainer !
My local server will set everything up on a new one for $25 - In 5 years have only had a short term problem with them 3 times(less than 12 hrs) -I may pay a tad more - but at least I have someone I can call and/or go into the office and complain to
Don't know how long it will take for me to download/update everything - then I have to learn new program :-?
Wish me luck :!:
As MacArthur said "I shall return" - - - whether ya like it or not ! ;-)

Well, bit the bullet and spent more than I planned
I pick it up tomorrow - my server is loading security that won't mess up the puter :!:
Then take it and old modem to daughter to transfer some of the stuff from here ;-) That won't take long at all - I just don't want to have to redo all the pics and favorites !
Spent $100 more than planned - but when ever Vista does come on line it will take that AND DVD burner built in - :D LOTS of memory - makes this one really an antique!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basically everything hit the fan last night - I can't use msn IM or groups - keeps telling me to download Explorer 7 - BUT the catch is - you need xp - and I have ME - tried a ton of ways - but basically they are saying ---- hmmmmmm can't say what I am thinking ;-) Fill in the blank  ;-)
Memory and hard drive in this one is shot - missing a ton of things that should be here !

FYI - after June Microsoft will NOT offer any type of support for 98/ME ! Won't even be able to pay for support!
Seems like they are sending us the message -

I know it's a pain, but you'll be MUCH happier!!! I am.

Now, do yourself a favor and get an external hard drive. Back-up everything onto it every few months...keep your computer free of 'junk' and it will run nice and fast....
...until they have new versions of everything that require a new computer again (I think it's a scam...I remember very clearly thinking "I'll never use all 32 Mb on this 286"...ROFL)

Oh - you mean the old adage = Plan A
h

d
?

That was the reasoning behind the one I bought ;-) And will get a memory stick ;-)
Also, bought a printer/scanner/printer - old printer argued once too often with me too
Told husband - don't argue with me today - he too could be replaced ! :rofl

This is WAY too cool - not only do they download the security stuff - they set it all up - just plug it in and don't have to worry about all the loading so they are my server - :D I dreaded doing that !
Well, have to hit the grocery store first and then get it on the way home !
Still have to have daughter transfer stuff - maybe tomorrow -
hehehehe - forgot how involved it is to crawl around to hook up and plug the puter in is! Had to move stuff and clean - Oh well, it needed it !
hmmmmmmm maybe I need a new puter desk - ;-)

Can you tell I am excited ? ROFLBO

I had same problems with mine and mine just got back from the shop last week. Boy is my husband happy to have me off his computer so he can play fly the planes and shoot other planes out of the sky type of stuff. It was dead for over 6 months and been in twice for repairs. This is the last rebuild on it. I had to save so much on it. All my adoption papers for our rescues, all the pics I have ever taken of them etc. Lots of stuff. I finally upgraded to XP. Grrr lost some programs there were not XP compatible but that's ok.

Glad you get a new one and you won't have further problems. Kind of sad that new ones are cheaper then fixing the ones we have huh?

I doubt it was cheaper ,but maybe in the long run - probably get it hooked up tomorrow - new one can burn dvd's and CD's and do movies .I know just the hard drive, memory and xp was more than the "plain jane" just fix what I had generic one. And to buy the other units to do what this one will would have really ended up expensive !
