I bet not too many are in our area. I know there are a handful of Peruvian Paso people this way but not Paso Fino people.
Hopefully I can remedy that in the upcoming Paso Show in Vegas at the end of July and meet some other Paso Fino enthusiasts.
Sorry I tend to get carried away and will chat on and on, so let me say hi and introduce myself.
Hello all.
My name is Jenn and I am new to the world of Paso Finos.
My husband Troy and I first fell in love with this breed meeting a 3 yr old pregnant mare in Utah, "Mercedes". Stupidly, we did not show enough interest in her and lost out. I had thought by saying we wanted her and would want to come get her as soon as my stallion sold would suffice, but hey I understand money is money when you need to sell a horse and she had been for sale for a while. I was awaiting my Andalusian stallion to sell. Well, he sold 2 days after she sold. And we are still heartbroken over her. She will forever be in our hearts.
The husband was looking to fill his heart once more and ended up with a Saddlebred filly. (she is almost 2) She is coming along nicely but I call her "snotty princess". She spends more time on her hind legs imitating a ballerina then on all 4 like a horse. But, she is progressing.
I still had Paso on the brain and continued searching. I found my new little girl in Ohio. Who should be here sometime this Sunday. She is only a yearling, so we have yet another young horse not to be ridden for a while LOL My mom keeps asking me when we will be getting horses we can ride calling me a horse Masochist. Sheesh, parents... I know once ours are old enough to ride, my mom will eat her words, hehehe.
I have a yearling little guy coming in about 3 months but he is a Fino/Peruvian Paso combo. He is the cutest Cremello but I think he looks more Perlino to me. Though I have so much to learn and that is one thing that confuses me. I will have so many questions I know you all have heard more then a million times, so please bear with me. And I talk alot too LOL
The new girl is called a Buckskin but has the dorsal stripe of a Dun so that confuses me too. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! So much to learn!
My first equine growing up was as Shetland then a big pony of mixed origin, then a Connemara, QHs, Morgans, Andalusian, Saddlebreds (1 stud we have is for sale presently) and finally Paso's.
In my spare time, up until recently with a medical issue (now all better) I was a Dog Trainer at Petsmart (guess I am currently still employed and better send in my notice one day soon that I quit) and in the next few months starting my own private dog training where we live currently which is an hour and a half away from Las Vegas, NV.
I also have my own dog rescue which mainly the breed is Newfoundland, the big hairy drooly dogs, Newfmixes, wolfdogs and German Wirehaired Pointers. Very eclectic I know.
At this time we have 4 of our own Newf and Newf/Great Pyr mixes, 2 cats, and a few rescues for adoption. Oh and the 4 horses. The filly who will be here Sunday, the one in 3 months, and the 2 Saddlebreds. We are keeping the filly but selling the 2 yr old stud.
Thanks for having me here.
