...and I have tears...and a sick feeling...
I guess I just can't see the movie...if the trailer bothers me this much.
How many of you are going to go see it??? Think you can?

I watched the review of it on NBC, the reviewer choked up about the ending, said everyone in the theater cried. No, I don't think I'll see it, we all know how it ends and it was a day everyone of us will remember forever.

I usually stay quiet about these types of posts. However, I pray that universal has gotten permisssion from the families of all people on board that plane. If they did it is fine, but if not, I disagree with this being made.

I don't think I have it in me to see it just yet. I can't even watch the commercials

I don't think I could watch it. I am pretty sensitive about such things (not sad movies in general but ones based on true sad events) and know it would not be easy and most likely give me nightmares.

My husband will probably watch it, and that's fine.

Matthew, the article I read on msn.com said that most of the families are pleased with the movie and that they feel that it is a very accurate portrayal of the actual events. It also said that many of the family members actually cooperated in the writing of the script as much of it was taken from first hand accounts from cell phone calls from the passengers on the plane. I imagine they wanted the true story to be told. Also you will find no big name actors in the movie as they wanted the viewing public to feel that these people they are watching on the screen are people just like you and I.
Probably why I know I REALLY don't want to see the movie. :(

I have a real tough time getting on a plane these days...I never liked it before, but now I really have to push myself to fly.

Carol N, you have every reason to be fearful of flying. I was watching The Fifth Estate the other night and they were interviewing people hired to do security checks on passengers. They are NOT doing a good job. The guys interviewed said that they are told over and over that their job is to rush everybody through because CUSTOMER SERVICE is the name of the game. No one is to wait more than a few minutes in the pre-boarding security check line ups!

And these guys are paid $15/hour. Yeah, like THAT's a lot of incentive to be very, very diligent at one's job!

OK you guys, no flying horror stories. I HAVE to travel, usually 2-4 flights a WEEK for work. Normally, I don't mind, but I do have to admit, sometimes I can get nervous.

I had a slight problem watching "Titanic" when it came out. I had goosebumps nearly the entire movie.

My grandfather was emigrating to America in 1912 with his family (parents, younger sis. He was about 6-7) when they missed their ship in Southampton. The ship they missed, was the Titanic.

When grandma passed away some years ago, several years before the release of the Titanic movie, Mother and her two brothers found Grandpa's family's boarding passes for the Titanic. They were third class tickets, so if they had made the ship, they would have perished.

The boarding passes are now with the Smithsonian.
Several years ago, Kenny and I were in Chicago and were able to visit the Museum of Science and Industry when they had the Titanic exhibit. That was another goosebump experience.

I do think movies like this are important. It is hard to believe it right now, but it will be easy to forget 9-11 as generations grow up not knowing what it was like. Those were real people with real families and their lives will never be the same.

History is an important lesson, we're only doomed to repeat it IF we forget it.

I had to fly for work and sorry, I am very much a scientist. Even after 9-11, you were still safer flying then on your trip to the airport. I am glad I don't have to fly now, but it is only because I hated being trapped with cologne and aftershave for hours on end. I am not afraid of flying.

Our local news in Johnstown, PA had a story on the movie. 10% of this weekends profits are going to the memorial fund to build it --The one at the crash site. They said they still get lots of visitors every day there, and the state of Pennslyvania has promised 10 million dollars, and the families are trying to raise some money also, Total cost, 60 million. So I guess, if you can go see it this weeekend, at least you know some of the money will go toward the memorial site. We are about an hour and a half away, still have not gotten up the nerve to go over, and may not be able to see the movie either. It really is still covered here locally when there is any anniversary, they carry the ceremonies live and it really brings back all that happened on 911. But I think we should remember all that, just to keep us on our toes.

OMG Heidi! My grandparents missed the Titanic too! Isn't that weird. They had to travel so far to get to there and missed it. They ended up taking the Karlsbad a few months later. They had one child, Maria, who was less than one year old. She died and was buried at see.... they came to America and had 11 more children. My father being the youngest. My granparents both died when I was 3-4 years old, so I don't remember much about them, but they spoke mostly German.

Okay, if both our grandparents would have boarded the Titanic, we wouldn't on the bb talking to all these other Paso folks!!
