You haven't mentioned anything for a few days . . . so I'm wondering whether you're seeing any signs that she's getting close.

Thanks for asking Vicki...yes, she's getting closer...just not close enough. :(

Her bag is filling gradually, still not full or dripping. Her tail head is relaxed, but she's been that way a few weeks. She is HUGE, poor baby! And waddles, has a hard time turning and getting up and down. The vet was here last weekend and said she is still a few weeks out. I'm shooting for MOTHER'S DAY!!!

I haven't been around enough pregnant mares to know the difference between "normal eleventh month of pregnancy" and "huge" (if there is one, lol).
Do you have any idea of what kind of horses Bella was around last spring and summer? Maybe you're going to be surprised by a gaiting Clydesdale cross or something equally big.

Danesa looks pretty big to me, but most people could probably glance at her from the side and not register that she's pregnant. From the front or the back, of course, is another story. She's also getting a little awkward in her movements, but I think she's fairly comfortable as long as I'm around to scratch her occasional itches. Her former owner just sent me some photos of the newborn colt from Anfitrion's (Danesa's foal's daddy) other breeding last summer. He's a gorgeous light colored buckskin (or possibly a super light dun -- it was a little difficult to tell from the angle of the photos). That mare is chestnut, though, and Danesa is black . . . .

So Denesa is pregnant with Anfitrion??? Wow...I know he's dead, don't remember exactly when he died (he was one of my favorite stallions, I have downloaed LOTS of pictures of him, he was so beautiful). You'll have one of his last offspring then. Lucky you.

Bella looked big in DECEMBER!!! We've been sweating this one for some time. She was most probably bred by a Quarter Horse, but I really have no idea...a gaited Fresian would be NICE...yes! LOL ;-)

I have a clinic all weekend but can take new pictures on Monday. She needs her feet done and I tallked to the farriers...not sure how/if we'll even try. May wait for "Wishful Thinking" to arrive first so she can stand on three legs.

Good luck. Oh yeah, everyone here likes PG pictures...so side, front or back, and teats once she starts forming bags. They REALLY like live feed Videocams, but I don't do this enough for the investment, so they just have to wait like I do. LOL

Oops, no, not THAT Anfitrion. Danesa's foal is by Anfitrion de Bochica. He's young, and I'm fairly certain the the new colt I mentioned in my last entry is only his first or second offspring. As far as I can tell, he has good bloodlines on both sides, but I'm pretty much a novice at this. He does have Resorte 11, 111, and 1V; Bochica, Anfitrion and several other names I recognize on his pedigree.
Poor Bella -- she's probably as anxious as anyone to get to the end of this pregnancy. I know Danesa has to be tired of me standing around staring at her . . . .
