Gracewood Farm near Raleigh, NC is hosting a continuing Training Session Clinic program. Here's a great opportunity to learn some training with your young (or older less expereinced) Paso Fino. Topics covered will be ground handling/round pen/ starting under saddle training for May/June. A minimal of 3 people will be desired to sign up per each session. There will be a limit on number of people as this will be some hands-on too, so pre-sign up. Each session will build upon the other, but it is not required you attend all sessions to learn. Horses to be used in the sessions will be mainly Gracewood's young Paso Fino horses.

I have quite a few newer people that have attended my past open house and visited the farm also, plus students who this would interest and benefit them. Many are also considering purchasing a Paso Fino in the near future (within a year or so) or already own a younger one that needs more guidance and training. It just makes good sense, plus I have enough young horses to be the clinic sessions hands on horses/models.

Are there gonna be test rides for newbies there? :D

Lori, I think this will be mainly attended by people who already own Paso Finos who are young or are green to the saddle and need more foundation work to get them more trusting; also people who have attended My Open Houses in the past will be notified. Its concentrating on preparing to ride a (young) horse not under saddle yet. I don't think they will be test-riding them yet. ;-) I find that a strong consistent ground training foundation gives a horse an easy time once started under saddle though. :D

Here's a student Allison on Sombra (photo from last saturday) who wants to get a Paso Fino and is very interested in learning all the groundwork needed to train one under saddle. Allison has been taking lessons now for 1 1/2 months and is doing very well. She was a beginner novice rider. She is very excited to be doing anything around the horses.
