Wow, those are great results! That second one looks like the Morgan we took before the "breeder" was sending it to auction.

Great work on them both. I know it's rewarding to see them healthier then when they arrived. There is a special love for the rescues and I swear they know what you have done for them.

My tagline says it all below......no matter the species.

Now, which condition is worse on a horse - too skinny or too chunky?

Just curious about how people feel.

BTW Appy, great job with both! :D

Hard call, heavier can be harder on the legs and joints then skinny. Skinny can have lack of muscles or muscle development depending on age. Hmm Unsure.

Wow! Now I know who to talk to if a rescue case ever comes into my care. The change brought tears to my eyes.

Obesity is bad but starvation will kill faster.
I agree here. With starvation, the body robs itself (basically canibalizing itself) to survive and many soft tissue structures (muscles) are depleted and the organs can become compromised with trying to function under less than ideal conditions.
Extra weight is hard on the support structures (muscles, suspensories and joints) but I feel while some of those injuries can become permanant or debilitating if left unchecked, the compromising of internal organs can have devastating affects long after the problem has been visibly 'cured'.

Star and Diamond look great! I remember when you were first looking at Star...I don't recall Diamond, but she looks so sweet. I love the "old ones".

Shelley, you deserve a pat on the back Good job taking care of those horses. Maybe I should send Princessa to you? Poor girl has to stay in the corral now and gets a teeny bit of hay twice a day. She is such a fatty.

My Shorty could be a twin to your Diamond! He's 23 (our babysitter horse).

He always looks a little rough in the winter. I don't have any new pics but he's all shed off now and looks great.

Great job...
what an improvement. Poor Star looked like she was begging for someone to save her from herself! How do you get a horse that fat?
