Hello to all! I am Blair from Shepherdstown, West Virginia (near the Washington/Baltimore area and a Mason-Dixon PFHA member) and I have been lurking here for some time. I know many of you from "the other forum" as well and am enjoying the personalities that come out here!!!

I have one PF mare (7/8 PPR and 1/8 Cuban) and a grade gelding. My mare is being bred (this week) to a PPR stallion and we are excited that we may be having a baby next year.

We are training for judged trail riding/CTR and just having fun in the woods. I do a lot of the natural horsemanship training and dressage training as well (IMO it makes a versatile horse). Like many, I have a not-so-horsey husband who is spending all of his free time building me more pasture fences and rehabbing a trailer so we can start going places. I think he will ride more once we can go to some neat trails.

I have a soon to be 12yo daughter (actually acts like a teenager already). She loves horses (or at least books about them) but is less inclined to actually ride. She is not confident and the horse she rides (the grade gelding) has the "spook" factor and is not so easy. I hope to convince my husband to get a good trail horse suitable for them soon but it is hard!!

Anyone in the area who would like to ride together or meet would be great too. I hope to have my mare back and a finished trailer by the end of May (then I have to learn to drive with the thing!!!).

Have a great day! :D

Glad you decided to jump in and post. Wonderful to have ya here.

Not sure how many folks we have in WV, but good to hear there are some pasos out that way.

Hopefully you can get that 3rd horse that will be perfect for hubby and daughter. It sure is fun to ride w/your family.

Got Brio?

We have a 13 year old daughter who is well into the teen mentality so we understand your situation there :)

I've been on this board for several months now and truly enjoy reading it each night.

What other board are you talking about?

Welcome to the BB!!!!

You are not too far from Shelley (appyday) who is south of D.C. on the Maryland side. Maybe you could work someting out, she has several very nice Pasos and I'm sure one your daughter could ride confidently.

I have found taking my husband trail riding has really changed his attitude about the horses, he enjoys them now. So, there IS hope.

Wow, thanks for such a great welcome!!! I will try to post some pictures once I figure out the best way (hints welcome).

Abejita, no, it wasn't me - I didn't make it to the PA expo but was at the Baltimore Expo. It might have been my friend and neighbor, Diane Thomas. She was part of the demo group on her gelding, Enrique (grulla or dun depending on who you ask).

I was also at the fall MDPFHA meeting in Hagerstown. Are you going to Dillsburg for the show this weekend (or anyone from here)??? I am thinking of going up to watch but have to figure out my schedule first!!!

Gotta get back to work now!

Blair, I think if you were sitting next to Diane at the Banquet I was on her other side. I plan to be at Dillsburg to watch at least Saturday, hopefully some Sunday.

I live in SD, so kinda far away. Good luck finding another horse. My son is 13 and rides a nice older mare that we got last summer (supposed to be my 8 y/o daughter's horse, but she's too timid to ride outside the arena). So, we are doing a 4 hr ride this Sunday. Hopefully, my husband's 3 y/o will shape up soon and he'll be joining us more.

Welcome!!

Abejita,
That was me next to Diane! Are you Sheri??? The memberlist doesn't have your real name and I remember her being either next to Diane or one more over?????

As for getting another horse, the harder part is getting the hubby to agree to one!! Someday.......................
