Hello to all! I am Blair from Shepherdstown, West Virginia (near the Washington/Baltimore area and a Mason-Dixon PFHA member) and I have been lurking here for some time. I know many of you from "the other forum" as well and am enjoying the personalities that come out here!!!
I have one PF mare (7/8 PPR and 1/8 Cuban) and a grade gelding. My mare is being bred (this week) to a PPR stallion and we are excited that we may be having a baby next year.
We are training for judged trail riding/CTR and just having fun in the woods. I do a lot of the natural horsemanship training and dressage training as well (IMO it makes a versatile horse). Like many, I have a not-so-horsey husband who is spending all of his free time building me more pasture fences and rehabbing a trailer so we can start going places. I think he will ride more once we can go to some neat trails.
I have a soon to be 12yo daughter (actually acts like a teenager already). She loves horses (or at least books about them) but is less inclined to actually ride. She is not confident and the horse she rides (the grade gelding) has the "spook" factor and is not so easy. I hope to convince my husband to get a good trail horse suitable for them soon but it is hard!!
Anyone in the area who would like to ride together or meet would be great too. I hope to have my mare back and a finished trailer by the end of May (then I have to learn to drive with the thing!!!).
Have a great day! :D
