Finally, my mare, Melusina La Estancia, has had her foal. I have been a nervous wreck, not leaving the place for a week. Then yesterday, I had to go to the store, about 5 miles down the road, and I don't think I had left the driveway when she had him. One of the girls in the office walked out to the barn to schedule a hay ride, decided to check on Mela and saw the baby just born. She started screeming for the ranch forman who came running in time to check the afterbirth and they called me on my cell phone so he was still wet when I got to see him. He was bred to a smaller Tri-color Pinto Paso, but she had a carbon copy of herself. He is black with 2 even white hind socks. No other white on him, just like Mom. We measured his legs, from knee to coronet, and it was 14 inches. By the way, her teets were pointed straight down. She was due on the 10th, but foaled on the 6th. Thank God it is over, I have taken many photos, but have to go get them developed as my digital camera quit working. I will post pics tomorrow. I have named him Adviso Calientes Liquidos--warning hot liquid. Now, can someone tell me if my spelling is correct?
