We love ours but wish it had a bit more towing capacity. Looks like the new one will. Ours had 7200 pounds which is fine for our two horse or even a four horse stock aluminum but not enough for a smaller enclosed four horse gooseneck with tackroom and lots of junk.

Thank You
I was thinking about getting Grace one of the new Toyotas Tundra trucks but mayber I just better stick with the old reliable Ford 350 diesel or something in that class
Thanks again for post

We were going to get another F150 four years ago when we read the crash ratings. We then bought a Toyota Tundra. We were rear ended by a Semi on the interstate when we were stopped at an accident scene about two years after we bought it. It caused us to hit an Infinity that was totaled. The semi hit us a second time. We had 9K in damages but we drove away from the accident. Yes it was a bit misaligned but no frame damage and it ran for a month before we finally got everything in place for the repairs. We have now driven it another two years. We lost the transmission which Toyota replaced free about six months after the accident and have had no trouble since then. It was very likely damaged in the wreck. They are fabulous trucks and very dependable. The new ones sound fantastic. But I know it won't be cheap either. Our only suggestion is to drive them all and check out the repair records in consumer reports. But we can vouch for their sturdiness.
Rueben we sure hope you get your gas mileage thing easy enough to add on for the amateur repair person. This gasoline thing is ridiculous. Pretty soon our horses will be towing us in the truck!

Finally the Tundras (Toyota full sized and it is now truly full sized pickup) are real four door with plenty of room in the rear seats and the bed is still full sized. We have the four door where you have to open the front doors to get the rear doors open and there is no room in the rear for an adult. The seats and headroom are fine but no leg room. The 2005's or 06's (can't remember when) on up have plenty of room in the rear with full sized rear doors that open independently from the front. Brother-in-law has one. We also have to have 4X4 and it does work very well. Now they need to get the gas mileage up. 10 with trailer, 15 without. Maybe a hybrid is on the horizon????? Pricey? For us yes but don't know compared to a dually truck. We definitely like the handling and the new ones have a camera because the visibility is lousy on the 02's. Here is SC they are selling like crazy but when we went out to Iowa for a workshop one summer we didn't see any Toyotas. It was really strange.

only 10 MPG with a trailer? That is terrible.... My F250 Powerstroke gets an easy 16 with a fully loaded four-horse (steel) trailer.... No "want" for power here..... Hypertech chip is the reason! Neck-crackin' power!

I totally agree it's terrible. OK so PLEASE Terry tell us about the hypertec chip. And also tell us what rearend you have etc. - all the goodies that give you the better mileage.
Our area also have problems with particulate matter in the air and we're in danger of losing our safe air rating so what kind of emissions does this truck have. We would have lost it already if we weren't so heavily republican. Every time we fail the air test they move the test site. But that's another story. The Fords don't have the reliability that the Tundra's have but supposedly they did somehting about the crash worthiness of their trucks. It took 15 years for our "shade tree" mechanic to figure out that the carburator jets were too small and the engine was starved for fuel which made the truck "fish bite" all the time and actually warped the cam shaft - took it out of round. A new carbeurator fixed it instantly. Although the last I heard they are still selling some of the old "death traps" new if that makes any sense so you have to know what you are buying to get the "safe ones".
But please share!! We're going to be towing the Tundra with the horses pretty soon - and we get better gas mileage than all our Dodge and Ford owning friends who get 6 to 8 mpg when towing. YOWWWWW!!!

I would love a new Tundra, the safety of the side airbags is a big reason, the QUALITY is the other. Our Camrey has 385,000 miles on it and still gets 39 mpg and doesn't burn oil. Runs like a charm. That is essentially FREE transportation, it's a 90. Original cost is nothing, when you look at the $$ saved over the LONG life of a quality vehicle.
I have a GMC Sierra with a 4.7L engine...TONS of power, but drinks gas like a sponge. 10 mpg, so yes, I'm interested in Terry's Hyperchip and Rueben's gas gadget (when he gets it perfected).
Nice to see they make a Tundra big enough for my trailer now. Now, if I can just win the lottery!
