I woke up this morning to find a visitor at my house. He is so neat looking. I have never seen one like him before. He was hanging outside my kitchen window...literally... :D

I wonder if he is hurt or just sleeping? He has the cutest face and especially nose. His body looks like fur.. I hope you can see in the pics.

Aren't they beautiful!!! A lunar moth. We've seen maybe three of them in 50 years.

That is truly a beautiful creature. Having never seen one, I had to google it. Did you know they have no mouth? They literally starve to death in 2 weeks to a month. That is all the longer they have to find another lunar moth and mate.

Luna Moths are also nocturnal - he/she may take off after dark -
We get them here too - occasionally -
They are pretty - and BIG - can scare you at night if it is dark and you can't tell what it is ! Voice of experience LOL There is another type of huge moth too, that is neat - only have seen 2 of those -

Your right again Monty...

After hanging out here all day and not moving an inch... ( I had to admit.. I thought he was dead or dying).. after midnite I looked and he was gone. I am glad to have had the chance to see one up close.

Its the little things in life that mean the most. :D

We get them around here just about every day. We often can look out the kitchen window and see several on the side of our well house under the security light. The well house is painted white so they stand out very clearly. We often see them at the barn also under the security lights.

WOW! Jasfino, you're certainly fortunate to have him spend the day with you! It's really beautiful!

Reuben, I might have to visit sometime if you see such wonderful creatures there.

It is LUNA not Lunar by the way but lunar is commonly used. To me they look magical. Like some alien life form or something.
