Ok everyone, I am back again! Here is my new project. His name is The Closer. He is a 2 year old Saddlebred stud by Finally Attached, out of a Belle Reve's Renassiance Man mare.
Yes, he is seriously underweight, needs his feet trimmed & shod. Basically just some serious TLC. I bought him Saturday night.
He seems like a sweetie. Has a good personality. Does well being handled, knows how to lunge, & has been started in the lines.
What do you think?

This will probably be a progression thread. Every couple of weeks I am going to take photos of him. :D That way everyone can tell me what they think.

Ok, we are back for our one month progress report! Bob is doing well. We have been lightly working him in the lines getting ready to be hooked to the cart. Well, when he gains some more weight.
Bob has been a slight devil in one small area. He seems to have some sort of phobia about one of his back feet. We had keg shoes put on him, and did really well for three of them. **Please note that I said three of them** He & the farrier had a love affair about the last one.
In this love story of Bob & the farrier, Bob stands really well for three of his feet to be trimmed & shod. The farrier takes his time & praises him lots. Then the dreaded happens. It goes down the tubes with one hand trying to pickup this lone back foot. Bob doesn't do anything too bad. He just repeatedly pulls the foot away, or picks up his other back foot so you can't hold on to it.
The farrier then starts to back away to reassess the situation. As the farrier backs away, Bob spooks & rears up. When Bob reared up, the farrier was awfully close & got pawed in the head. Not once, but twice. The first hit just pulled him in closer, so he got caught a second time by the Bob's lovely fronts with new kegs on them.
Everything after that happened pretty quickly... about 4 of us shuffled the farrier over to the washrack. Yes, he was still standing & never hit the ground. He did better than I would have. (I would have been knocked out first thing.) He was bleeding pretty profusely from the back of his head. We rinsed off his head so we could see the cut. The cut wasn't that big but was pretty deep, so one of the guys at the barn hauled butt to the hospital with him.
Bob all the while is sweating profusely & shaking like he is scared to death. We noticed that this started as soon as we started fooling with that hind foot. I am thinking that at some point in time someone has done something pretty bad to that foot. Who knows, it is in his past & there is nothing we can do but work with him about it.
But other than pawing the farrier in the head (and sending him to hospital & giving him 4 staples), everything has been going well. I have been working with him about that foot. We did get the back shoe on about a week later when my husband could get a hold of him. I believe he has gotten the farrier scared of him. My husband doesn't get scared of horses to easily. The only thing he doesn't like is one that rears when you get on it.
Here are some new pictures of him:
