Does anyone know this horse? His size or age?

I had a request for this info in my email. Thanks. ;-)

Spud and Cathy Maulsby in Micanopy own him. Alicante x Rincona LaCE. He was foaled on 3/25/89.

He is 15.1 hands and black, gorgeous horse. They showed him in Bella Forma, driving, western pleasure and versatility. I believe his stud fee is $1,000.

I've seen him too and he really is beautiful. He's black, but with dun markings ...I guess we'd need Stormie to explain how that came about. ;-) Wow, he is 15.1? He didn't look that tall to me, but what do I know? *shrug*

I've also seen him...good sturdy horse. You forgot Costume, he shows almost every year in Costume. Spud leads him around by his mane...excellent disposition.

I saw him 2 years ago at Nationals, he is a beautiful animal. He's not only tall, but substantial in build. Nice bone, but not at all course. Really a pretty animal.

Here is an ad I have for him, hopefully it comes out clear. As you can see in all the pics, he is a pretty versatile horse.

Night certainly is versatile! Besides what's already been mentioned, Spud does tricks with him. He sits on him while the stud in on the ground. That magnificent horse steps onto a stool. I'm not sure, that I have any decent trick photos. I do have different shots of Cathy and Spud riding him.

Years ago, when setting up a booth, I couldn't find much video other than Fino at Nationals. People in Florida knew what paso finos were, but didn't know the versatility. I went to Shadow Hill to videotape Night driving and doing tricks to include in a 3 hour long tape, that I made. Some of my friend's horses and mine were also included in it.

I have one of his daughters. She stands 15 hh and is as gentle and quiet as you could want a horse to be. http://www.2hottotrot.com/data/571/100_0825.jpg

Is everyone in agreement that this horse is over 15h. You know a 14.3h paso fino is a TALL horse??? Anyway what was he entered in at Nationals? thanks, ridn'

Look at his driving pictures to check size. I know, that it's hard to compare with people when you don't know their sizes. He's huge, not just tall!

BTW I had a 15.2H paso stallion. He was on Issac's largo video. Our breed description has listed as tall as 15.2H, but I've read of taller. I can't verify taller ones though!

I have 15HH Pasos...tallest horse here is 15.1HH...tallest I ever owned was 15.2HH... and yes..a 14.3HH Paso IS a tall one...anything past that is "very tall"...

Black Night Mako appears in the video "Whats My Gait" Lori... he is only one or two years old I think...but he is on it... it shows him at a show (possibly nationals) standing wearing ribbons won...wiith some of his siblings....

This is here in the Colombian forum, but I believe he is 3/4 PR. Alicante was PPR and his dam was half and half. I have judged him, and he is quite tall and big boned, so should be able to handle any size rider.

He is also very versatile in his classes.

Black Knight Mako...has a DSLD daughter that came from Colorado.... no excessive pastern angle...but DSLD all the same....not owned by me...but I'm the one who took her to the vet and got the diagnosis...

Personally...I'd not breed to him or anything on the dam's side of this mare.... ;-)
