Aww what a cute baby, what a good mommy, how old is the mare, and how long has she been blind. Its amazing how they can get along blind, specially if they are in a area that they know.

Thanks pasohappy.. :D

Josephina is 15 and a such a sweet mare. She has been blind for a couple of yrs now. She has adjusted well and still makes the other herd member run when she lays down the law. All she has to do is flick those ears and turn that tail in the direction of the would be trouble maker.... and she always wins her battles.

She delivered this filly last nite about 2 am. I didnt get to see her birth because I was staying at the hospital with my grandma but my dad who has been on foal watch for the last month.. found her in labor. Dads stallion El Viento is the proud papa. She is a cutie. :D

We have a freind with a blind Percheron mare that is a great Mom - they put a halter with a bell on the foal asap - so she can telll where it is and at least avoid some chance of the mare stepping on it - ;-)

Dad has a bell that he plans on tying to the fillies mane when we let them out in the the paddock. Just watching her interact with her new baby.. you would never guess she was blind. She is very careful around her. Its amazing.

What color do you think she will be?

Mom was hoping for a palomino like your baby Moniece... :D I told her I thought she would darken to a bay but she is hoping she wont. She has palomino in her background close up.. El Viento's sire Don Quijote was a palomino and Josephina has palomino's in her pedigree as well.

Any predictions? She has those neat what I call "tiger stripes"on her legs like her mom.

She's bay. Unless the father was palomino or buckskin, there is no way she can be palomino.

Thats what I suspected Cindy.

I think she will be a light bay with alot of yellow tones.. like my gelding Jasper. :D

You never know, she might shed off as dark as her mother. They usually shed darker than what they are born with.

Good point Moniece. We have a paint that needs his "whites" cleaned regularly. Its a job keeping him clean.. :D
