This is my second paso I've trained to drive. She a little girl,13.2 hands and only 4 yrs but does a nice job. I should have shown my first paso I trained to drive but sold him before I had a chance to show him off.

I'm located in Illinois, do you think Madison WI would add a class?

HOLY COW!! It's Sara, Amante's breeder!

Hay Sara, what do you think of your boy now? Did you see his pics on the parade thread? Can you post his baby pictures for us, please? I have never seen them.

We can always try. I have noticed that all it takes is asking sometimes. Anyone know who is in charge of that region or can help us w/this?

We would love to see some pix of your pasos in their gear. 8-)

Oh man...wish you were closer. I'd find the money somehow to send this horse to you for training. She's probably 13 H. tall. But look at how she's built. Welcome to the crowd!

Barbara!!!

I only found this site because you forwarded the wonderful pictures of Amante from here!!! What a great opportunity to showcase the paso fino!!! He looks fantastic... Did this take place in New York City? Wow!!!

I will try to post photos when I get on my home computer. Maybe you can help me.

Amante has a new sister, born 6-6-06... No I'm not naming her "Bestia." She 's a grulla with leg barring like I've never seen.

How cool. Amante was a dream. I was the one riding him in the parade. What a wonderful horse. You should be proud to be his breeder.

Now Barb, you need to teach her to post pix of his lil sister. 8-)

Amante has a GRULLA sister? Gulp! Is she his full sister?

I will do my best to help you with pics. There is also a place here on the board that gives helpful hints. Go here: http://www.americanpasofinos.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21

Thanks so much. I'm so happy to have found this Paso site... I've been at a loss sever since the end of the pasofino.com. I was out of commission for a couple of months and when I got back online, the site was gone.

I would greatly appreciate directions as to how to post pictures or if there are directions already on this site, could someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I would say that all you have to do is 'ask' your closest show. All classes should be offered at all region shows. If no one signs up for it, they cancel the class. Many places don't include it because no one plans on showing in it. Contact your region, see if one of their show committees will make sure to include it.

Otherwise, see you at Mile High! I'll have someone to root for in the Driving Class. :-)

Welcome to the BB.

My friends used to show at nationals in driving, and did quite well I might add. It used to be that you didn't have to qualify for nationals in driving, I guess because so few shows offered this class. Have they changed this rule?

The NC State Fair Paso Fino Show on Monday October 16 in Raleigh, NC offers the Paso Driving class. Anyone interested please attend.......we will have around 50 PF classes and all the Specialty classes are offered.

After the year where there were 13 horses in the class and some close calls they made it a qualifying class again.

Extravaganza in Ocala, Florida just had the class over the week-end. I'm not sure if anyone entered it though. Some of the other Florida shows might have it, too. I've seen someone driving at the showgrounds before. Both Southern Regional and Florida have shows there at different times of the year.

The year the 13 were in the ring should have been awesome, but instead it was very very scary. Since qualifying isn't necessary, you could literally never have driven in your life, yet go to Nationals & enter. Half the entries didn't know the proper way to reverse, so when they would call a reverse, the seasoned drivers do a sort of "figure 8"; but the other half tried to reverse along the rail. Rigs were swerving to miss each other, one rig even got hung up along the wall.

PFHA was sure fortunate that no one got injured seriously; that's probably why the rule change was proposed and passed. Of course, something always goes wrong. Last rule book I possessed changed it in one spot, but missed the other. LOL

PS - Your photo is beautiful. Nice rig, wonderful horse. Thanks for posting it.

I was supposed to be in that class but the horse decided he would lock up in the paddock. Had to unhook him to get him to move forward, since we missed the class we went out in the field to work him whether he liked it or not! Didn't watch the class but heard about it later. I guess I'm lucky he choose to lock up outside instead of in the class, that could have been a mess. After watching the driving classes at Nationals I came to the conlusion that the best cart to use are the ones with the bicycle or motorcycle wheels. The wood carts are pretty but they are too heavy and the thinner tires sink in the dirt. If you look at the horses that have won the last several years they have been the smaller carts.

TVPFHA shows have driving class, and that's a little closer to Ill, I remember one entry last year, none this time. I just went to see an all driving show near Woodbury TN, Valhalla farm puts it on every year, nice place, maybe 40 entries. 3 day event with a lot of different classes.
I'm dreamin of building my own old style carriage. It's a fun change from riding now and then.
