We had a great time at the Dupont State Forest ride yesterday. Perfect weather (high 70's, nice breeze), nice horses (probably 25 riders), great lunch (BBQ), and super nice people. Doesn't get any better than that!

I took over 50 pictures and here's a few of the better ones!

Group shot at the rifle range on the morning ride

Gaiting down the trails

Afternoon ride was the covered bridge and waterfalls

This made a very nice sounding board

Beautiful! And that bridge is awesome!

Looks like a great ride and a great place to ride. You said "gaiting down the trail"...where all the horses gaited?

All Paso's in that shot. Overall, there was two Walkers, and a couple of Quarter horses on the morning ride. Of course when the QH people left after lunch, someone said if they had Paso's they could ride longer.

Beautiful place. And of course I have to say something about that pretty pinto. That is a Paso too?

Yes, the black and white was a very pretty 9 yr old mare.

I just happened to reread the title - think about newpaper headlines "GROUP SHOT AT RIFLE RANGE ON MORNING RIDE" Sounds BADDDDD. How many were wounded????? Did they catch the shooter???

;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have never been to Georgia and did not know it was so green and pretty.

Is is humid out there? Are there fleas and ticks?

I would love a place like that to go riding in. Here just rocks, brown dirt and more rocks.

What pretty scenery!

There are fleas and ticks. Humidity depends on where you are. South Georgia is very humid. North Georgia is not so much. Some days are humid, others not so bad. Since it has been so dry here lately I think the humidity has been around 50% lately. But sometimes it is more like 90%. But it is a very good climate. I could not live in South Georgia though. Too much humidity and too many bugs.

Thats hilarious! Fortunately, nobody got shot on the rifle range!!! Actually, Dupont State Forest is located in western N.C. about an hour south of Asheville. Someone said there is about 98 miles of trails!

And actually NW SC and north GA look the same - all part of the same mountain range. Really beautiful country but you'd better have some DEET because it is humid, buggy and hot although the mountains are sometimes as much as 10 degrees cooler than even the piedmont plateau. Dupont is a beautiful place to ride! But unfortunately civilization and a multitude of golf courses are gradually reducing the wild places. It's too pretty for developers to leave alone.
