Yes Lynn, she's got some nice striping going on there! Beautiful light color. She'll really stand out.

She's looking very good too - under the color.

That is such an interesting shade of grulla, I'm planning a kidnapping... hehehe. She looks huge in those pics, how tall is her ma or is it just the camera angle?

Her mom Cassie is probably 13.3 hands. I hope Marietta doesn't slow down growing as a weanling, and is her mom's height by 1 year. I'll wean her around 5 months in July. She is eating well away from mom, but still has some separation anxiety over that..so want to get her thru that more. She is best buddy with her big sis Espirita who will be 12 months old 6-24-06, so she can be weaned with her. I want to do some more general handling with her too with a halter and tieing, before weaning. Big sis is a very friendly sweet girl, so hope that Marietta will heed her as a role model... so far she is.

her color is closest thing I've found on the web would be called a light grulla as she also has the dark head. Duns are usually more golden in shade. I could probably register her as either color. I haven't found her exact shade......silver grulla has a more light silvery cast. She still has her mid-section to shed completely out...but the body color is there to see. I'd say light grulla, also because both parents are shades of grulla. Best way and odds to get a grulla is to breed a grulla to a grulla.......plus doubles the primitive markings. She does not have shoulder barring or cobbwebbing like my dun mare Maja or Marisa has..........but she has lots of markings on the legs.

I like the color and her overall looks, probably won't get another that exact shade again either.

I don't know what to call that shade, but it's beautiful.

I'd call her a light grulla too, and she's OUTSTANDING, Lynn!
She'll be a big 'un, too! Congrats!
Best wishes from "the cousins!"
