I took these last night, this is the view off my back porch. My husband was moving sprinklers and this is his "assistant" when he's in this pasture.

Carol, he is awesome! I love his profile -- such a pretty head. And of course, that is a great butt. He looks like so much fun. For all his devilish antics, I'll bet he will be a dream horse one day.

Great shots, Carol. I can appreciate how hard it is to catch those types of movements on film. Excellent! 8-)

Yes, definately a QH butt. I think he's practicing to be a Reining Champion..lots of spins and roll-backs. The days it rained hard he practiced sliding stops in the mud. He really had a ball doing that, even falling a few times, he kept racing and stop-sliding. Must have been FUN. Arthur thinks he's going to be a race horse because he can really move when he kicks in that big afterburner of his! LOL
Thanks everyone, I have to agree that he is going to turn into a beautiful horse. I'm real happy with him (even all his naughtiness!).
Judy...don't you just love it when they're feelling good and destructive? Got to appreaciate Bengals (and not own a lot of breakable collectables! LOL). So glad Chloe is back.

So what are your plans for this handsome little Brute...eh, Carol??? Are you going to cut him or leave him whole?
I imagine that you are going to have him gelded, but you know, sometimes I think it's a real shame to geld such an awesome member of the species. Like my Ms. T...it would be so beneficial to be able to blend some of that blood into our Paso Fino...or in your case, the Peruvian Paso...maybe to strengthen the lines some.
Too bad they don't have a way of specially registering such half-breeds...maybe on approval from the specific breed association...just to get that blood into the lines. I know that way back they did register the Peruvian and the Paso Fino in the same registries.
Carol, what I would definitely do in either case, geld or not geld...is IF the sire IS registered QH, get a copy of his papers...by hook, line or sinker...!!
Perhaps Debbie can ask her cowboy acquaintance if the suspected sire is registered and if she can have a copy of his papers.
I have copies of the registration papers of Ms. T's sire...signed by his current owner and the owner of Ms. T before I purchased her. At least then I have some "proof" of her genetic heredity. Maybe down the road, such information will prove invaluable!
Anyway...he's absolutely stunning...and I'd love to have a stallion of his caliber in my barn!!!

Do we know or suspect if he gaits?
CarolU

Does he gait? Sure he gaits.....This is a gait. (sorry it's blurry, but my shutter is slower then he is)

More gait:

Okay...I know what gait you're looking for...it's in here somewhere! LOL

Thank you Carol, that is quite the compliment. Luckily they have a half Peruvian registry, but no, he won't be staying a stallion. Unless I wanted to start my own breed of Bruiser Gaiting Quarter Horses, he's getting the great snip snip -- and probably sooner rather then later. This boy is ALL BOY. LOL

yep, he is definitely one handsome little critter. Nice speed. I agree with Carol N, if he showed up in my barn, I sure wouldn't kick him out.

a paso fino half registry exists. peruvian? know not. QH half registry=yes& NASHA North American Singlefooting Horse Association has an awsome half bred grade horse as one of its two foundation sires Falcon Rowdy he is one of the fastest most awsome movers I have ever seen. A Univeristy (I think Texas A&M) did a video of his gait to music and Johnny Dimetrius his rider was a one armed man who rode him real real fast in a rack or absolutly super largo. NASHA would fit for your gaited horse.... He is fabulous looking foal a real sport.

Thank you all. Ed, there is a Half-Peruvain registry along with the full Peruvain and they include them in their shows like the Arabs do.
I have the video of Falcon Rowdy on my computer..it really is awesome. What is it about Bruiser that makes you think of him? I haven't noticed this guy singlefoot...he's more inclined to run everywhere. LOL

He is really COOL!
Check the placement of his feet in the very last pic - crossed my mind - single foot - one is leaving ground - one is on the ground and other two are off the ground ???????????
PS - he remeinds me of Jr when he was that size - ;-)

He is BEAUTIFUL!
The photo's are great!
Hopefully he will continue to gait. All my App babies have gaited from birth, I had hope with each one that it would be a shuffler. But, they all lost the gait before they reached the yearling age.
I love a big ole butt like Bruiser has!

What neat pics of him running and rearing and having fun. Wow, he looks like a handful though. He's going to be one powerful boy I bet.

Thanks again. Paula, I also am a big BUTT person. Love a 20-point rear and it looks like he'll have one. He certainly is full of himself Camilla. I am quite sure the world revolves around him and his itches. LOL
Stella, thanks. I remind him he could be in a can of Alpo right now everytime he's bad. Does no good at all. I had forgotten that babies are this much fun.

I have been having twinges of wanting a baby, and the Bruiser photo's did NOT help. My last baby that I bred for & raised is now 7. I want a baby, but I do not need another horse!

Carol,
He is totally gorgeous, of course I am partial because mine looks just like him. I will be so glad when he gets rid of all the foal hair, as he is so splotchy (sp?) looking right now. He is so much like Bruiser in that he has that attitude " Here I am, no one is cuter, or faster, or stronger, or prettier than ME!!!" He will be 2 months on the 6th, and everything is done at a dead run. He gaited everywhere for his 1st 2 weeks, now he just runs. I am having to really discipline him though, as he wants to chew on everything, especially me and his momma. She lets him, I don't! Any suggestions on when he will get over this? When I take him for walks, I really have to watch him, as my hand on the lead rope seems to be fair game for him. But they are so much fun and entertainment, I can just watch him all day.
He is absolutely gorgeous. :D

Cathie, the minute Bruiser quits trying to eat me I'll let you know! I've put two Frisbees, two balls, a rubber chew toy, a rope and even a noisy Jolly ball out there, and he could care less about any of them...wants to chew on ME.
I have found colts to be a lot more mouthy then fillies, and they don't outgrow it anytime soon. Just todya Buddy ate one of my gloves and I just barely got him to spit it out (all full of holes now) instead of swallow it. He's THREE! You just can't be too careful with them. For chewing I try to put something legal in his mouth, like the lead rope and let him mouth it. They are teething and are compelled to chew. Bruiser loves his gums rubbed.
What I try to do now is let him run into elbows when he comes at me, and I'm quite ready to use one of my old 'tricks'...take a good sized nail and file the charp tip off so it is smooth. Hold the nail in a fist so only the tip sticks out. Then when they come at you, let them run into the nail instead of you. They have to figure out you're not really chewy and one of their play toys. This is a very non aggressive way to cure mouthiness.
Well, I put Zar, Rosie, Bella and Bruiser together today, and Bruiser has learned NOT to chew on Zar. Rosie is still keeping her distance from Bella, but I imagine he'll learn about her next. At lease SOME horses will discipline the little bugger!

BTW...thank you all. He really is a pretty colt and a wonderful 'payback' for rescuing the two of them. I'm sure he'll be SOMETHING when he grows up.
