Does anybody have a horse I could use for Mundial. I was told that I HAVE to have my own horse to ride. I know it is hard for people to let people they do not know ride their horses but I am desperate. If it makes a difference I help train horses, I have placed at Nationals, and if wanted i can get you recommendations. please help.
Sincerely,
Cassie Oakes

I am assuming that means they will not provide her a horse at the show

i don't think they will provide me with a horse or that is the impression. Personally I would like a performance or fino but right now i'll take pleasure.

so I guess they dont have enough horses in the bank? I know someone taking a horse and her niece is riding it then it has to be ridden by two more riders .

They can't possibly NOT provide you with a horse, but I'm guessing since they don't have enough horses they're trying to make the other US kids bring their own horses so then they have more horses for the other kids too? Good luck Cassie, I'm wondering what horse I'm getting with such a shortage of horses :-?

You are more than welcome to use my Contrados de Poker. If we can get him to you I assume I would also have to be a current member. I think I just recently received a renewal form.
Dos is rusty and would need some serious freshening up but I do not beleive he would ambarass you in the arena. Cindy could give you a qualified oppinion. He would be a pleasure gaited class if that is what you need.
I was told that I HAVE to have my own horse to ride
Do you have to be the owner? If so this would not work. And I just leased out a mare that would be another good possibility. Would a temorary lease work?

No you do not have to be the owner. Threads were posted here on the BB about needing horses for the Bank of horses for the Youth Mundial in FL .PFHA also sent out emails and letters in the US mail requesting horses. We didnt send a horse because unfortunately I do not feel anything I have here is polished enough (as in ridden in ages)or even the caliber these kids are expecting or what these kids deserve to be riding. It seems sad that we are going to be representing ourselves to other countries and inviting them here to compete and we seem to have dropped the ball. (yeah I know we already had this conversation ..lol..)I was told that up to three riders will be riding each horse? Many people are heading down next week but I dont think they actually show until the following weekend??

Yep a horse can be ridden up to three times, not more than two times a day and has to have a class in between to rest before being used again

Upon further review. I still can't find any spefics on when and where but I see you are in SC Cassie. So no problem gettin him to you. Or picking him up on the way down. I would think a trainer could woop Two into nice show performance within a couple of hours. Not National calibre but definitly show form. Only word of advise don't let him bond with any horse within eyesite of the show ring. Other than that he would do you proud in a pleasure class. IMO.

Unforunately, the mundial is next week. See how much time i'm given. All the info is on PFHA's website. No the horse doesn't have to be mine.

Hi Cassie,
Can I ask why you aren't taking one of your own horses? Are you not allowed? You'd be welcome to take my horse, but he's in Canada so not much use likely. Are there really not enough horses in the bank? There are so many farms in Florida, surely there's enough horses just in-State? IF you have not tried already, perhaps start contacting Florida farms directly and see if they have anything. I know Jaime Suarez has a youth Paso School and a lot of great pasos shown by kids... perhaps that's a place to start.

I have a performance gelding, out of shape but good. When I got the mailer asking for horses they originaly had it as Fino horses, what they meant was Paso Fino not trocha or trote. Plus having to haul him and take care of him would mean a week off to just get there and back.

Sorry but this whole thing is the dumbest thing I have ever heard..
I don't know about dumbest, but certainly the most disorganized! As was stated on another post, FL is chock full of Pasos...the should be someone willing to loan out a horse closer to the place the show is being held rather than make someone from clear across the country haul in.
They didn't know about this beforehand??

YOUTH EQUITATION MUNDIAL: July 3-9, 2006, Silver and Spurs Arena, Kissimmee, Florida
There are approximately 71 youth on the US Equitation team. Of that 71, only 42 of our riders have arranged for a horse. This means there are about 29 riders who have failed to declare a horse for the competition. While we all know it is difficult to make arrangements for horses to travel long distances to get to the competition, there are many horse farms in Florida and the Eastern states that may be contacted to inquire about horses for this competition. It is imperative that each rider make every possible effort to locate a horse for him/her to submit into the horse bank. Unless we receive more horses into the bank, we may be forced to resort to placing our horseless riders at the bottom of the lottery system. Please help us make this event a success not only for our Team USA, but also for the riders from the other countries who are counting on us. Please get out and get us horses.

I'm confused on how this whole thing works.
Do the kids not use their own horses? Are they not bringing their own horses from other countries?

WOW! So it would appear that the PFHA not only wants someone else to pay for their extravaganza, but they also expect the children from the U.S. to find enough horses to fill their horse bank for ALL the children to ride at this event. And if the U.S. children fail to meet this task, some will be eliminated from participating?????
Does the PFHA plan to anything at all to actually support this event they so generously offered to plan and host?
This is way beyond pathetic........

Mitch, I believe the show has to provide horses for ALL the kids to ride...something like 400 horses...although some horses can/are used more then once. I believe also as the owner of the horse you pay all shipping to/from the show.

Here are the reasonings for my horses not going. First horse: Napoleon: Not trained all the way, horrible attitude, not suitable for some riders, 2nd horse:Chico:WAY to nervous, not registered(but can be), last time i rode threw me up against a fence because he got scared, not trained all the way, 3rd horse: 19 year old mare, blind in one eye,4th horse: Indio: unsafe for many riders, Is show sour, Rears up alot, horribly gaited, really bouncy, out of shape. these are the reasonings for my horses not going.
Any person can take there own horse but most people across the ocean won't fly there horses up here. The peoople in the USA are unable to get there own horseso there are not enough horses for all the participants coming.

INteresting - so are only the USA riders being penalized by being placed at the bottom of the lottery - whatever that means - or are the other countries' riders also being penalized.
Too bad this isn't 2-3 decades ago when children could and did win Nationals on Pasos they rode and trained themselves. Of course, with the higher quality of horses, many show horses are no longer safe for our youth riders - and who wants to volunteer a horse with a liability like that...

I heard they're bringing some horses from Puerto Rico..and no..USA kids won't be put at the bottom, they just randomly pick a kid and a horse. (that's how it's supposed to be anyway) And even if you get placed at the bottom if you have luck some good horses will still be in it. You never know, my friend got a tremendous fino stallion at the last mundial and was the last to get a horse assigned
