Gosh, I'm a little giddy with excitement here, I just booked my flights to Nationals. I will be there from Wednesday late afternoon until Sunday morning. I have only flown one other time, and I was with my family. This time I will be going solo, YIKES! I am so JAZZED! WOOT! WOOT!

Barbara...take it from an experienced flier, the flight is always the easy part. What you need to do is pay close attention to the location of the car rental return. Many are not at the airport. Don't loose the map they give you to take the car back, and plan extra time in case you get lost.
HINT: If you DO get lost, go to the airport (there's always LOTS of signs to get you to the airports) and follow their shuttle bus back to the rental agency. I've only had to do this once, in Boston, but it's a great method.
Otherwise, it's an easy drive from the airport to Perry.
Have fun.

Carol, I haven't reserved the car yet, but I will. There are a lot of car rental agencies right at the airport so I won't have too hard a time finding my car, I hope!
I could have flown into Macon, a half hour from Perry, but the arrival & departure times were killer, so I'm flying into Atlanta. It's about a 2 hour drive to Perry, so I've been told. I was OK with that, until my husband tried to plant seeds of doubt. I just looked him in the eye and said, "Look, I drove in and out of Manhatten with a horse trailer, I can drive anywhere." Get behind me, naysayer!
CarolU
06-26-2006, 01:47 PM
I've always gone in/out of Atlanta. It's easy. The airport is on the south side of the city so you don't even have bad traffic if you plan it right.
You'll do great.

Does anyone know if there is a woodshed at the horse show grounds? ed once told me that, due to my "vulgarity", I should be taken out to the woodshed. PLEASE let there be a woodshed, pleeeease!

Barb, I am SO going to pout if you go to all these shows and not Vegas. I mean huge croccodile tears with sniffling. Plus umm Vegas is cheaper for flights, yeah ummm that's it.
Barbwire
06-26-2006, 07:01 PM
Jenn, can Vegas offer me this?http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/65061eds_butt_avatar.jpg I think not. ;-) Actually, if I was made of money instead of BS, I'd go to both the Gold Cup and Nationals.

Well, no it's not made of that but uhh well ..... there is Thunder from down Under.....
TrueStepPaso
06-26-2006, 08:03 PM
Ha! Thunder From Down Under was at my hotel (the Luxor...pyramid thingy...waaaay cool) when I was there in April.
We tried to get the bride there, but she was a 'fraidy cat.......she said she didn't want any "banana hammocks" swinging in her face. What a buzzkill.
Barbwire
06-26-2006, 08:08 PM
Oh, oh, ohhhhhh, now I get it! This "Thunder" is fancy dancing men, right? Meh, not interested, I really like a man with a working conformation, not overly muscular or bulgy in odd places.
TrueStepPaso
06-26-2006, 08:44 PM
They may be bulging right outta their "hammocks" (and into my friends hair - the bride), but I still get a kick out of it! Oiled up & fake tanned to the gills, these "guys" prancing 'round the stage can muster up a giggle from this girl.......

I live 45 min south of the airport. And 1.5 hours north of Perry. When Nationals gets closer I'' give you my contact numbers in case you get lost or need help. It's a straight shot from the airport to Perry.
Dear lord, Barbwire & Appy. Georgia may never recover from this
