I feel for the old bucking horses...wish I was closer. I think they have earned some quiet time in a nice big pasture.

A lot seemed unhandable but a lot were nice looking.
That appy sure had a lot of mane and tail on him, just needed some good food on his ribs.

The black/whitel paint mare (Fiesta) is very pretty. And McLeon (the blue roan) - nice looking horse too. I will be in eastern WA in July for my reunion, but not as far as Yakima (unless you pay me well, Mel ;-) )
Then, you'd need to come to SD to pick up your horse, and ride some Black Hills trails with me!

i don't think there's such a thing as an unhandleable horse, but some would take a lot of horse wisdom combined with inventivness. and some arn't worth the time it'd take. like an old one that still needs a lot of work.
Sometimes i wish i could go to such a place and set up a training facility, (round pens, modified round pens, squeese shutes, etc.) have a good helper or several, and train one after another till they're all sellable as good safe riding/driving horses. But that would take a decent financial investment that would be iffy about it's return, and I'm purty sure that's not my calling in life.

So sad that they have just been discarded after giving their service... some for years and years. :(

That is what kills me about the two bucking horses! They are in the hall of fame, yet standing in a feedlot. They deserve better than that!
