I am interested in everyone's opinion of the forums available now. Do you want more? What would they be?
Would you delete any of the current ones?

So far I like everything I see......I am sure in the furture, there may be things you want to consider...depending on use and need, but for now....it looks great!

Do you think the serious trail riders would like a separate forum?
Do you think I should combine all the show forums into one?
Pasomom

Well, you might want to consider a forum for (combined or seperate) for Trail riders, and endurance riders. As for the show forums....it is a little too early to tell, I would leave them for now and see how everyone post to them. If they all end up on one or two forums, then you can combine some...if they use them all.....well, we're set to go.
Maybe wait until after Spectrum.....That will be when a lot of post will be going on......

My only suggestion I have is to chage "trot and gallop" and "trochador" to the Spanish names:
Trote y Galope, Trocha y Galope, and Pura Trocha
Reason being is that the "trot" is not what we consider a trot. So elegant, slow and animated. And the "gallop" is not a gallop at all, but again, elegant and slow. It would more accurately reflect the "modality" of these horses.

Just thought of another important one to include where you have show ring things; Versatility, Fino, Performance, Pleasure, etc. Largo Race fans, or something like that!!

Great idea pasoperson! I think I will make that change.

I wanted to revist this question now that we have a few more members.
I was thinking again to to combine all the Show Ring topics into one. They seem to have the least amt of use. What do you all think?
Any other forums you would like to see at this time?
(yes, still working on the chat room!)

Now I know you opinionated folks from PF.com have some suggestions.... ;-)

I like to have them all lumped together (like on the old bb). Why? Because I am forced to live with dial-up, and it is VERY slow, so jumping around from place to place is annoying.
I like the way the classifieds are organized. That works well.

On the chat line it would be good to know if anyone was on before going in. I do not know how much control you have there as it appears to be a service you subscribed too.
Spell check would also be good if it did not cost anything.

I probalby won't lump them ALL together. I like for you to be able to go straight to the pressing questions on the Health, Trainer, & Farrier forums. ( I have asked certain people to help us out with our questions, and I don't want the posts to get lost in the chit chat, so our helpers can find and answer our posts.)
Also, I find that some people are more serious, and don't fequent the Chit Chat, they are here for informational purposes. I wanted the people who are new to the breed to come here and be able to quickly find a place ti ask serious questions, whether it be about PPR pasos, or the show, etc.
I see that most people enjoy the general chit chat which is great.
The Newbie Corral is to help new people feel comfortable. You all are such a big family and know each other, it can sometimes be intimidating to be a newbie.
I am mainly thinking of combining all the show ring stuff.

Im just lazy and dont like having to jump from forum to forum  Also I think posts are missed because the individual "headers" for each change when a new post is added to, so unless you actually click on that forum to see it as a whole you never know if anyone has replied to your post or not? ( I think I know what I mean  )
So yes..put all the show stuff together
ps MSN has FAR better chat rooms.....hint hint pretty please

Are the MSN chat rooms free? I'll check them out.

I didn't see where to vote... But I think there are too many headers. Too many to jump around too, and then you always miss some threads you would have liked to speak at. Many topics are cross-over related anyway.
JMO.. glad to be here.... ;-)

MSN does have great chatrooms - I used them until they started charging for them! They aren't THAT great!

Terry - The poll is at the very top of the thread when you open it.
So what topics would you like to see combined, and what would you like to see stay?

I'd like to see an off-topic or NPR forum. Lots of people want to read JUST about Paso Finos...lot of complaints on the other BB. Some of us like to post jokes, pictures of our cats and dogs, etc. That way PEACE IS MAINTAINED!!!!
Pascale

Isn't this "general chit chat forum" exactly that, Carol?
Pasogirlz
06-16-2005, 09:02 PM
I created Gen. Chit Chat with that in mind, and PasoFun for more of the horse chatter.
Maybe I should rename it Paso Talk? Instead of Pasos for Fun and leave the Gen chit chat for the NPR??

Well, I had voted to leave it as is, but in reading some of the other ideas, perhaps the show area could be condensed, and a trail/pleasure area added.

I would like to see a separate forum for Colombian Paso finos, since you have one for P PR paso finos. Don't lump Colombian Paso Finos with Trot, Trocha, etc as they are different gaits. Categorize it for Foundation Colombian imported US bred Paso Finos to concentrate on those early bloodlines bred to keep the Colombian lineage pure. Such as history, bloodlines, famous names such as:
Mahoma, Hilachas, Sin Verquenza, Relicario, Lunares, El Pastor, Mar de Plata LaCE, Muneco LaCE, Majestuoso, Caruso, El Capriano, Cruziero Negro, Cirano, Guala, Yocunda, Dahae que tal, Belmonte, Ejemplo que tal, etc.
That's what I'd like to see to help educate about our breed's main foundation breeding who's who in this country!
EDIT: OR at the least just make it Colombian Paso Finos, and make the other gait categories into a separate forum. Its a Paso fino forum, so the other gaits...I would wonder whether they would apply at all excpet in a forum maybe in discussing all gaits.

I vote to delete some. Your topics are excellent ones, but like it was said before, it causes us to lose track of some posts which are probably excellent.
Thank you for asking.

I'd have one just for show events, one for Pleasure/Trail, and then one for Intl/CONFEPASO events. Not break down by show category...that is too much division. Carol may suggest one for Sporthorse ;-) other competitive events....... :-?

Yes, I would say people are a little confused. I read both the Pleasure and Versatility forums in the "show" section. Neither have a post aboutthe Plesure class/division or the Versatility Class. The Pleasure is about trail riding and the Versatiity is about largo racing, team penning, etc.
Now....I fully agree with these posts and subjects....just needs to come OUT of "Show Corner"...

I go to
"view posts since last visit"
over on the right ,top part ,
It shows all the stuff I missed.
and everything that is being talked about!

Hey Erin, that's what I do too, and I am so proud of myself for figuring that out. This is really good for me to have to learn my way around a new place. I get comfortable and don't want to learn new things pretty easily when it comes to computers. So this is helping me broadening my horizons!

I like the wide variety of topic headers, especially for the ones with direct information (health, farrier), but I do feel that some could be combined. However I would wait a while longer before making any major changes to see where and how the site traffic needs to be distributed. You may find that you'll need to make adjustments and tweaks as you go and the site grows. If you make the changes in small increments it won't disrupt the flow very much...
Everyone who likes a simpler format will eventually become accustomed to the new format here and the "view all new posts" feature is a great one so you don't miss anything new since your last visit.
Heidi
PS Jeany, I absolutely LOVE your tagline of Blameitonbrio!!!!!!! The coolest!

06-17-2005, 03:51 AM
I suspect they'll eliminate themselves by lack of use and the ones not used can just be combined with related topics perhaps or eliminated as you choose. You'll probably see a need for any new ones from really common threads that pop up with regularity within the existing topics. I also would like to know who's in chat like the old BB used to do.

Thanks Heidi. Not that I could handle a ton of brio  , but it is the brio in a PF that made me fall in love with them. Even dear old Spanky, who was as good as gold, had brio in his eyes. And when he moved, well, I was hooked the first time I heard his hooves cortoing down the driveway.
Now we are getting ready to move out of what we thought was our dreamhouse onto 12 acres where I can have Paso Finos. So we have a lot to blame on brio!

Ooops, yes, I forgot that the chatrooms are free if you are in 'groups'. There used to be general chatrooms open to anyone without having to join a group - and those began charging a while ago.
