In order to maintain the title, the horse must compete in what is called Ratificación de Fuera de Concurso, EACH year. If the title is not ratified in this class (three are held per year), the horse will lose the title and never have the opportunity to reclaim it. It is not something you get, and are done with it...you have to prove year after year, that the horse is worthy of the title.

This is something that I have only recently heard and I do not understand it. If this is the case then how are there horses who have been retired and not competed for years who are still recognised as Fuera de Concurso?

Okay, so let me ask everyone a question.
(and i realize this can't happen since Don Danilo is deceased)

but if you were seriously looking at a yearling or two year old colt who had this stallion as a grandfather or great grandfather in his background, would it make you hesitate on the sale?

Not at all. I would judge the horse in front of me. Don Danilo was a great horse.

I must say Don Danilo is a remarkable horse for being able to do all gaits. I'd look at the breeding the 1-2 year old has first. If the breeding has too many gaits mixed in I wouldn't buy. But not many horses have that kind of breeding. JMHO

I'm not sure Cindy, but I am working to find an answer to that question. I'll post what I find out, either way. :D

I was wondering the same thing.

very nice offspring as well. I am under the understanding that this horse is half Paso Colombiano( rescently known here in USA also as paso fino) and half Lusitano (Portugals'bullfighting horses essentially same as the PRE/Andalusians.Must be a nice cross.

Are you kidding Dana? Don Danillo could do it all.... I'd PREFER that type of bloodline. As long as the horse standing in front of me had some talent....I would not hesitate at all! :D
