I was sitting here doing some catch up reading and realized  ____ :-? where have all our male posters gone? Oh yes they are still around but not on here much anymore. There are just a couple that i see.... Cowboy Ed, Finolover

Would all the guys please speak up so we don't feel like this is nothing but a hen party these days

seriously the point of views of the guys were nice to have too

seems like all we have to read about these days are daydreams and complaining  :D   ;-)

women just have more to chat about, in general more social creatures... just have to tell what they know. men they sit back and take it all in, and not want to get in the middle of "that one" with those "flock of cackling hens!"

Now all kidding aside...there are a few more guys around then that...may be in lurking mode. I know some who have lurked and never have posted.

Do you not think some may feel they are treading in dangerous waters if they post a comment?

haha

Well I hope if they aren't here, they are out doing something with their horses... grooming, riding, stall cleaning, fixing fence, or off down the road with their horse to a horse event, trail ride or camping in the mountains or where its at least cool temps!!!!

;-)

PS. And on the flip side for women/girls, I rode my 5 year Capuchino daughter "Miss Davina" I bred, raised and trained on my 45 min farm loop yesterday (3rd training ride this year). It involves steep inclines, creek crossing, a couple of ravines, a bunch of fallen trees, low branches, winding twsiting trail grown up in some areas, and beautiful woodland. What fun!!! It was meant to be a conditioning ride for longer trail rides to come. She doesn't care to work/ride in the ring, but she loves the trails!!!! She is also very very green, which makes it more fun for me!

ahh......today cleaned stalls in the heat and hosed down horses in 100 degree heat index weather to help them stay cool. :D

i stop by every day, but only say something when it seems appropriate. conversationalism isn't my talent. i did spend a good part of a day looking at pasos on the net a few days ago, took a look at every web site listed in the directory under FL farms. gets me reved up and roused to more vigorous action. i spent today workin on the car we're puttin together from scrap yard parts, if it works good maybe i can drive it to perry. then got the last load of the first cut hay stuffed in the barn. then went to town to see the fire works. tomorrow guess i'll tend to the maters and peppers, then work on the swimmin pool site, part of the long term business venture. gotta keep the workers (and me) cool and happy while we work. the goal is to work it up till I'm harvesting and replanting two truckloads of top quality gourmet lettuce and carrots a week. to fill the little 1 ton reefer truck we just got.

This intrigues me...you are going to build a pool to keep the workers happy and cool? That is really neat. What kind of produce do you grow and how many workers do you employ to harvest? I just love the pool idea, and I'll bet it will make harvesting in the heat a whole lot more pleasant to know that water is waiting for you!

I see Barb has already asked about the reefer truck...

yep; :rofl

i havn't hired anyone yet, (just one for a few days when i was pickin squash 3 yrs ago) we do have a couple friends moving in next to us that would love a local job. i figure if we can grow enough to fill the truck twice a week it might take 4-6 people 4 days a week.
Just trying to figure out how to make propagation systems work. I know what working in the field is like, and i won't make anyone do it without making it as fun as posible. besides a nice little pool of 20,000 gallons would make a good irrigation resivour. there's a little spring up there i want to dig out and run into it so we can use the water.

When I was a kid, I worked in tobacco fields for my neighbor. That's how I bought my second horse. I know what you mean about how hot it is. A pool of fresh spring water would feel like heaven on a hot day in the field. We worked in one field where there was a creek nearby, so of course, we made use of that when the trailers were loaded and headed toward the barn!
